"Archetypes" - New Podcast from Meghan Markle

The royal family sounds stifling and a drag in many ways but it is astounding that she thinks a podcast in santa monica will get her more attention - and make a bigger social impact - than what she could have achieved within the BRF.

What happened with everyone threatening to quit Spotify (and move to Canada, too)?

The content was nothing new or particularly insightful. And there didn’t seem to be too much focus on ambition…just meandering thoughts on how women are treated differently?

It was pretty darn dull -- and I'm the rare DCUM-er who thinks both Meghan and Harry are relatively charismatic. But nothing about her (or his) background really screams capacity for cultural commentary or podcasting. I think they would do better in a more scripted affair, and seriously, now that they're good and "divorced" from the BRF why doesn't she go back to just acting (or perhaps hosting a show).

the BRF has a sell buy date that is rapidly approaching. I think she and her family will end up in a much better position, in the long run.

Wait, Serena Williams and Mariah Carey are scrambling for publicity? LOL

Yea, Serena stepped back from tennis/retiring and out of the lime light and Mariah isn't the household name she once was. Mariah hasn't had a hit released in decades.

Yes, they will both take publicity any chance they get.

You are full off jealous PP. LOL at the ridiculousness of your comment.

It’s a PR stunt to improve her polling numbers. And trying to make money. She’s still a gold digger and makes no qualms about having wanted someone rich and popular as a husband. Just Google her interview with a British spokesperson. And the majority of the world still doesn’t like her. She rubs everyone the wrong way with her insincerity and her approach and controlling attitude. And Serena should keep a distance from her. Meghan is nothing but trouble. She’s is and always will be full of herself. She’s only nice when it’s convenient or will get her something or somewhere.

Old white women dont like her.
That is fortunately not the majority of the world.

it could have been a good podcast if she'd focused on Serena instead of babbling about herself. Serena has actually accomplished something. MM, not so much.

Pathetic that you try to make everything about race.

+1 Sadly she just comes across as a whiny narcissist who seriously lacks self-awareness. And I truly wanted to like her.

There's a good article in the guardian that takes a measured approach to the podcast but basically the criticism was that it could be an amazing forum to explore a variety of very important women's issues but it contained much personal naval gazing, self aggrandizing and insertion of herself into what could/should be a much wider narrative. My own thought was how in the heck does she feel qualified to deconstruct the enormously complicated cultural, religious, societal roots of misogyny and speak to these things? I mean this is complicated sh*t. But I listened to a bit of it and I agree thete were lots of platitudes and personal stories....so that's how she did it.

I thought it was dreadful - didn't make it to the end and also wanted to like it bc I admire Serena tremendously. Good podcasters are great interviewers. I think her show falls more into the category of so many people thinking they have a talent for conversation.

And people need to stop with the "if you don't like her its bc you are jealous (or racist or whatever else). I am a POC and definitely not an iota jealous - would not want her life in the least.

That’s what they said about Hillary too.

I am not a huge fan of Hillary but please do not compare her to Hillary. Meghan has accomplished very little compared to Hillary. She isn't even in the same ballpark.

+1 Meghan married well, that’s it. She hopes to use her public visibility to good ends, but it’s way to soon to say whether she’ll actually accomplish anything. And a little hard to take her mansion-dwelling, celebrity-seeking self seriously. I don’t dislike her, just don’t find her impressive in any way.

LOL in the Married Well olympics, she won the gold medal. "Oh, she just married a prince. Ho hum." LOL

I find her impressive. Her life is off the scale. There are only a handful of people in her league. I hope she accomplishes a lot.

The Today show coverage of this was so over dramatic and pushing the narrative that she is overstepping - they had a big banner that said "backlash over MM's podcast" then 5 dull minutes about what the first podcast was about and one UK reporter saying people there were rolling their eyes about it. Not really a huge "backlash"

Savannah Guthrie must be jealous.
