"Archetypes" - New Podcast from Meghan Markle

MM and whomever she's interviewing are scrambling for publicity and getting their names out there again. And since Netflix cut MM from the payroll (and many others too, not just MM) MM could use this for money and pay. Its a win-win all around.

Those two cannot control their fabulousity

I don't understand why it's called "Archetypes" then. Outliers are the exact opposite of archetypal.

It's probably an attemted tie-in to Archie and the Archewell thing they tried starting.

A-R-C-H? I mean, archetype is an actual word with a meaning.

I am aware. But MM likes using the letters in her son's name. I doubt she cares what it means.

Yea, Serena stepped back from tennis/retiring and out of the lime light and Mariah isn't the household name she once was. Mariah hasn't had a hit released in decades.

Yes, they will both take publicity any chance they get.

That's hysterical. Sounds like you're talking about Jay Leno. Both Serena Williams and Mariah Carey have been in the news A LOT lately actually. Serena Williams is actually on TV commercials, too.

You're nuts, PP.

Serena announced her retirement but it hasn’t happened yet. She’s basically on a farewell tour with peak publicity/news coverage at the moment. She was just on the cover of Vogue this month. She is definitely not scrambling for publicity.

Can we for a second focus on the content of the podcast?

It took her 2 years and $20 million to come up with this?

The content was nothing new or particularly insightful. And there didn’t seem to be too much focus on ambition…just meandering thoughts on how women are treated differently?

That’s what they said about Hillary too.

I am not a huge fan of Hillary but please do not compare her to Hillary. Meghan has accomplished very little compared to Hillary. She isn't even in the same ballpark.

+1 Meghan married well, that’s it. She hopes to use her public visibility to good ends, but it’s way to soon to say whether she’ll actually accomplish anything. And a little hard to take her mansion-dwelling, celebrity-seeking self seriously. I don’t dislike her, just don’t find her impressive in any way.

And if she was married to anybody else she would be a D list celeb at best

It's ARCHwell Audio but the podcast is ARCHEtypes

She's definitely trying to stay relevant.

You don't have to like her content or listen to her but I don't know why it would bother anyone that she is doing this. Many former actors/actresses do various things to stay in the public eye since that is a natural progression of their career.

The Today show coverage of this was so over dramatic and pushing the narrative that she is overstepping - they had a big banner that said "backlash over MM's podcast" then 5 dull minutes about what the first podcast was about and one UK reporter saying people there were rolling their eyes about it. Not really a huge "backlash"

+1
Hillary’s been swimming against the current practically her entire career.
