They won’t tell you. Every time the numbers get lower, they move the goalposts. It’s almost as if some people don’t want a crisis to end. |
+1 The ignorance is astounding. You should file a lawsuit. Worked for private schools. |
Yeah, but their compassion and virtue signaling are off the charts. |
I don’t think anyone’s saying the masks do nothing. What we’re saying is they’re not necessary any longer. |
|
DCUM claim to care about science and data when it comes to things they don't like (masking), but ignore it when it comes to other areas.
Hey parents, did you know that data tells us that extended school days and years do little to nothing to improve student performance? |
| It drives me nuts - when trump was in office we’re all, they aren’t following the science!!!!! And now, that’s exactly what we’re doing. Such hypocrites. |
| As a parent there it mostly frustrates me because while they have been very conservative this entire pandemic, they have said its because they are following the science. But now I guess science is just out the window? On an emotional level, I am not fully convinced that unmasking indoors isn't going to lead to a bit more spread, but I am absolutely convinced it needs to happen regardless. And now, before this pandemic has the chance to change again. |
OP here on the "following the science" post. While I won't deny there isn't some truth here, it doesn't change the fact that masks should still be dropped for our kids in school now. Maybe this will be a good learing experience for all of us. |
LOL |
| Is it to appease the teachers? I think charters are worried about losing staff. It stinks though. My charter is also keeping masks and ignoring CDC guidance. |
| I told my 4 yr old daughter she could take her mask off outside when she goes back to school (at ITDS) on Monday and she was ecstatic. She would love to unmask if she could. |
The only ones who moved the goalposts are the CDC, when they decided to shift from community transmission to community level, making the map turn yellow-red to green overnight. |
Which is actually a more realistic scenario. The 90% scary red map made no sense. |
Our school has an elaborate phased *outdoor* unmasking policy over a period of weeks. It’s a waste of resources. And parents must still mask up outdoors. Only in DC… I’d be OK if that were the indoor unmasking plan but nope that’s not even on the table yet. |
Serious question: What would actually happen if a parent was outside and unmasked? Would they punish the student? |
