Right, he’s the difficult personality here— not the actress who demands she rent her own wardrobe to movie, has the location of the movie filmed changed to suit her, calls meetings with her bosses at her home where she, her husband, and their famous friends berate them, refuses to sign her contract and constantly threatens to pull out of movie even after filming and has multiple female members of the crew fired. Got it. |
PP here. I never said Blake wasn't difficult. She clearly is, and Ryan is worse. But the subject was who is a vulnerable narcissist. I don't read that in Blake and Ryan at all. They have several overt narcissistic behaviors, actually. Baldoni is a covert, or vulnerable, narcissist. It's a specific kind of narcissism where a person with all the same narcissistic traits (grandiosity, lack of empathy, need to be center if attention) but instead of an overly aggressive it demanding personality, they use false vulnerability. All narcissists are hard to deal with but vulnerable narcissism can be especially challenging because it's inherently manipulative. You are tricked into giving them attention and deferring to them because they get you to feel sorry for them, or convince you their problems are bigger or more important. All of these people are badly behaved rich people, and most have narcissistic tendencies of some kind, but Baldoni is the only one I'd categorize as a vulnerable narcissist. He fits the profile exactly. |
I see no evidence that he is any type of narcissist, but Blake looks to be. |
DP but... how??? I'm not here to stan for Blake either, I'm sure she is a difficult person and a diva, and I think she lacks talent. But how can he not be a narcissist when he decides to write books and give talks to other men to tell them how to interact with women (which it seems he does not follow at all), when he talks about his vision of the "female gaze" which is making actual women uncomfortable (and does not match the author's own vision as far as sex), and everything else he's done? The vulnerable narcissist describes him perfectly, like when he says he shut down, and was that little boy who couldn't speak up for himself... it's textbook! |
None of what you described makes him a narcissist. I can see you projecting alot of your own issues, however, per usual. |
NP. It is textbook, absolutely. |

It’s insane that there are now thousands of documents out and Baldoni really doesn’t look that bad. I was expecting so much worse but he really hasn’t had embarrassing texts. Seems like he was literally just trying to get through this movie.
Blake and Ryan on the other hand look like unhinged giant a-holes who made taking over this movie their whole personality, to the point where they are no longer talking to the godmother of their daughters and they’ve embarrassed Sony and WME executives and a-listers like Matt and Ben. |
Agree totally. They are massive lunatic a-holes and they’ve been exposed. And they can’t stand it. |
I think you just aren't willing to open up your eyes to what looks bad for him. I think Blake and Ryan look terrible after reading their emails and texts, but Justin also seems awful. The issue is that his texts and emails aren't aggressive like Blake and Ryan. Instead he just lies and plays the victim and is obsequious and fake all the time. I'd actually rather deal with someone aggressive and arrogant like Blake or Ryan. Seriously. If you look at Justin's emails and texts in isolation, it's like "aw, poor guy." When you look at them altogether and read his deposition, I'm like "dude, you're an a$$hole." |
| Where is the "neutral" poster who goes insane when people rightfully point out that at this point, people are clearly divided in two camps? I wonder if they are still neutral? |
lol, you wouldn't last a day with them. Stop lying. |
Again, this is vulnerable narcissism. You might not be familiar with it. It's infuriating. This man is in his 40s, has kids, and runs a film studio. He assigned himself the role of director/co-star/producer of this movie. And then he constantly acts as though he has no responsiblity for anything that happened on the film and that he is a victim of everyone around him. That's vulnerable narcissism. What's interesting is that not everyone can get away with this. I think Justin gets away with it because he's so good looking. I think it's a personality disorder he's basically developed to avoid personal accountability, and likely it started when he was young and found he could get away with a lot because of his looks. I've seen several interviews of him with other people and the dynamics back this up. Everyone treats him like a child -- his business partners, his wife. But he's not. He's an adult with a lot of privilege and responsibility. People like this are infuriating. |
I think you mean me? I have called myself neutral, but I was never upset that people are divided into two camps. That's true enough, although I can't understand anyone who finds either side totally wrong or totally right. What I complained about is when posters accuse each other of being bots and paid shills, so not sure if I'm who you mean. And yeah, I am one of the ones posting that both sides sound like narcissists, so I guess I am still neutral. |
I have no doubt that Justin is insufferable, but my point was this latest round has been really bad for Blake and Ryan. Even the media that are usually friendly to them cannot resist having dirt on Taylor Swift and Taylor is not coming off great. I’m a swift fan and I get the defense that she was not really sure what was going on and believing her friend and blah blah blah but she looks like she was scheming and that she lied to the public when she said she wasn’t involved. She was pretty intimately involved. And I always wondered why in her public statement from last year when she said she had nothing to do with this, and she didn’t even see the movie until several weeks after it was released, why she said that. Was it just an unnecessary dig at Blake? And now it’s seems clear from the texts that Blake gave her the login to the advanced screen just like Matt and Ben. So I wonder if she was even part of weighing on the final cut. There’s still tons of more documents that have not been released so we shall see. But yes, my point was I don’t think Justin is a saint, but there were no salacious headlines this round. There’s nuance that people are digging into over on Reddit, but for the general public reading mainstream media its all Blake and Ryan because it’s just too good that they can involve Taylor, matt and Ben and also Ryan insulting executives at WME and Sony. |
Then you must also be a vulnerable narcissist because your posts are infuriating. |
