NYT far more credible than TMZ — it appears very likely from the many times that Gates met with Epstein that Gates would have had liaisons with multiple women, possibly underage. What on earth was he thinking, collaborating professionally with a sex offender and compromising the amazing food work of the Gates foundation - ten years ago, after many of the charges against Epstein had already been made? What shockingly poor judgment. Bill really looks decrepit now, unlike Melinda who retains her dignity.

Therapists say marriages break down due to one of the the 3 is (incompatibility, infidelity and irreconcilable differences). Melinda’s petition that the marriage had “irretrievably broken down” is probably based on all three.

What’s the difference between incompatibility and irreconcilable?

What’s the difference between incompatibility and irreconcilable?

Good question !
Maybe there is not much difference between them in legal terms used for justifying no fault divorces, but perhaps there is more nuance in terms of psychological conflicts. Incompatible implies general state of personality differences that don’t mesh well while irreconcilable differences implies conflict based on negative experiences,
Some states allow for no-fault ground divorce due to “incompatibility.” In many other states, the no-fault ground is known as “irreconcilable differences.” Both terms just mean that a couple can no longer get along and that there is no reasonable chance that they will reunite.

Here are some examples of issues that may lead a couple to divorce on the ground of incompatibility:
failure or inability to communicate;
financial issues;
differing expectations about marriage or spousal roles;
substance use, abuse, or addiction;
religious or political differences;
cultural or lifestyle differences;
sexual incompatibility; and
lack of mutual interests.

If Melinda were a knockout, people would accuse her of being a gold digger. Women truly can't win.

WSJ reports she first met with divorce lawyers in 2019. What a coincidence, right around the time she saw Bezos's wife getting tens of billions and showered with praise.

Read an article today saying they’ve led separate lives and agreed to hold off on divorcing until the youngest was 18+.

Timing around the Epstein stuff isn’t coincidental.

I think she had been aware and wasn’t a fan, but it certainly is more plausible than, “ wow I just found out I could get a divorce because I saw another rich lady do that!”
