demoralized in MCPS

Dear poster that wants to degrade teacher Rights. It's not ok. Teachers need to have rights and protections to do their job creatively and without assault. Unions are there to protect the profession and the professionals that's why they want your money. Support educaotors, don't degrade them.

Students come to school to learn. Flashing your skin doesn't help yours and the boys’s education.

It doesn't harm it either.

Yeah, it does.

It's a distraction & then those girls are "labeled." That's the sad truth.

Nope. The boys are responsible for their own behavior. Also, stop labeling the girls. The harm comes from your labeling.

Another MCPS Principal assaulting teachers and then retaliation firing. She must be following the MCPS Admin Code of Ethics.

When the union comes to check in on problems with morale they might be coming actually to find out who they should target and get rid of. As an Ed professional my best advise is if you see something questionable keep your trap shut. Nothing good can come about by following the rules. You report you will be singled out and made an example of. You don't report you will be singled out and made an example of.

sorry - still disagree

It's about self-respect. School is for learning; it's not a fashion show. I teach my son about restraint, respect for others, and self-respect, but I don't expect other parents to do the same. ASSumptions are dangerous. So I prepare my daughter for the worst. Yes, she will be labeled if she wears clothes that are too revealing. Do you go to work in stretch pants and a tank top? School isn't a place to show off your curves.

sorry if that's hard for you to understand

My teacher friend told me recently MCPS has an inside term for principals who do bad things but can't get in trouble- MCPS employees call it Passing the Trash. Most people think Smith,Starnes, Crouse, and Vindiola lasted so long because they just get passed around and promoted Everytime they get busted for illegal activity.

Who is Vindiola?

Can you just stop spreading misinformation. The union doesn’t fire teachers. They may decide to not take your side if you file an action. That is not the same as what you are claiming. Beginning to think you are an admin.

Yes, the boys are responsible for their own behavior. However, If your daughter or you met a irresponsible/criminal biy/man and were hurt or murdered by the murderer, one life would be lost. Please don't teacher your daughter to assume all boys/men will behave. I teach my daughter to protect herself. Too many young women lost their life to predicators who prey on them.

Union apathy to respect teacher Rights is different than direct firing. Lying on teachers person files in my opinion is this type of under the table bullying to blacklist teachers after the put in years of hard work. Either way teachers are blatantly disrespected by parents, admin, students, the union ( who takes their meager monies), etc. Bad morale comes from bad climate. Education is a very sketchy industry these days but you can't blame teachers. We put up with enough BS from dozens of directions with less than zero support. It's tough.

Unions like to threaten teachers to keep the hush hush underwraps. The big one they hate is the wide spread inflation of grades that DC and Pg already got busted for. mcps is adjacent and all the teachers know that inflation will give admin the numbers they want to look good. How did they not get busted is beyond me.

Everyone has to get real. Parents of elementary school kids are responsible for their children’s behavior. If kids are acting like criminals in middle and high school the parents failed. And the school system enabled it.
There is no accountability. That’s a problem.
The schools don’t enforce their own policies and they never have. What are kids learning about citizenship and personal responsibility? Not a thing. No consequences. It’s anything goes. Wtf with all of this bs - catering to the disruptive kids, catering to the bully parents.
The public school system is failing our kids and simply ... failing.
