could someone please clarify this for me?
A current 7th grader at LJMS from Mosby Woods non-AAP will stay at LJMS for 8th grade next year. But the 6th grade sibling who is also not in AAP must go to Thoreau for 7th grade? |
yes. |
There are already many “academic-minded” parents choosing Thoreau over Jackson and the incentives for a much larger group of parents to do so in the future will only continue to increase. |
| There certainly are parents that make that choice, although the choice seems to largely be driven by factors other than academics. That could change over time I suppose, but it would take a school-wide commitment by TMS to build and sustain a successful AAP center program like the one thst already exists at LJ. Right now, and for the foreseeable future, LJ AAP is the right choice for those AAP students that want the most rigorous academic preparation for high school. |
I think the current 7th grader can switch if s/he wants. But, yes, the kids at LJ can stay there for next year. I've heard that there are some who want to switch...which is surprising. |
Exactly! Well said. |
Well they got their wish then, didn't they. |
Current students get a choice. Incoming only has choice if aap. |
Current students also get to switch over for 1 year? What a mess. |
| Happens a time there’s a change. Don’t fret about it |
LJ will end up like Glasgow. |
That’s a best-case scenario. |
I doubt LJ parents would be happy with Glasgow, so the "best-case scenario" seems like a big loss, |
I seriously doubt that. |

Enough with this topic already! Stop regurgitating and pretending!
This is not even an AAP issue. If anything it is a political issue. If you want to solve something stop hiding under anonymity and do something tangible. |
