They dont take any responsibility for their own lives, blaming everything on their upbringing and parents. Its so pathetic. I love Randall though, even when he geeks out. He hit the jackpot when he married Beth. She is amazing. Probably the best character on the show IMO. I also love Rebecca.

Beth is awesome!

I really can’t stand Kevin. I’ve seen him do a handful of unselfish things, but he really is shallow. I’d love to know if he wouldn’t have been such a jerk if his bio brother hadn’t died.

They bought it as a fixer-upper just as Randall was vying for partner. Beth also told William that Randall did all the work himself. If you look at the house interior in 2008, the kitchen is basic, the furniture is modest and overall it hasn't been updated. They took a leap and it worked out eventually.

It still looks pretty fancy for two twenty somethings. And he was already up for partner in his 20s? Wow, I'm in the wrong profession!

+1
They showed the exterior shot and it was still gorgeous when they were supposed to be young and pregnant. It would have been so much more believable if they had just been in a normal, modest house at that age. Or even an apartment/townhouse.

Exactly. They’re such losers. It’s unrealistic that parents as thoughtful and responsible and loving as Rebecca and Jack can produce such losers. There’s no reason for the two of them to be as dysfunctional as they are. It’s just a poor plot point.

NP. No reason for them to be dysfunctional? Their father died unexpectedly when they were in high school. That's enough of a blow to throw even the most ambitious kid off track. And somehow their house also burned down, which would also be traumatic.

And, their father was an alcoholic.

Yes, that would have been way more believable. I know that Randall is a high achiever, but that's a little ridiculous unless he invented Facebook or something.

I just saw that Young William and Old William will be on the after show tonight. I'm assuming that means they will be on the actual show tonight. They are my absolute favorites. I'm so happy to see them again.

I think you meant "Did EITHER of them even go to college?" And why should an actor go to college? What a complete waste of time & money that would be!

Do we know if Jack or Rebecca went to college?

Agree. I think it was the best episode this season.

Yes, tonight was definitely the best of the season and is renewing my faith in the show.

Does anyone know if Ken Olin directed this episode? The ones he did last season were my favorites.

Loved the Beth Randall Deja Deja's mom thing. Loved young and old William and the judge

Kate and BF too mushy

Kevin a total ass as usual

Looking forward to the more detailed profiles of the kids coming up in the next 3 episodes

It seems like no one ever challenged Kevin to be more than the good looking class clown. I'm not talking about achievement or academics, it seems like no one expected him to ever be deep or have strong feelings or care about anything that wasn't directly effecting him.
