Snow Day next Tuesday?

lol, admin just sent the schedule. 47 minute periods.

Time to readjust lesson plans.

I’m going to bet tomorrow becomes a senior skip day…

Lunch is the wrench in the system- we do 4x30 for lunch on a regular day. I’m guessing 43-45 minute classes and 4x20 lunch blocks at the end of the day.

You forgot lunch. Where is lunch in your schedule?

7:30 pm. No word on my MS schedule yet, and I have to be ready to teach in 12 hours. I’m so frustrated that I have to work late and out of contract hours yet again so that I can adjust/drum up new plans.

Won’t you just teach as usual? Just a shorter class. When my kid was in middle school, he told me more than half the class was time to do work so teaching time was less than half the class.

This is the absolute worst case scenario. Well done, Reid.

Cool. So a bunch of ES kids get two 3 hour early dismissals in a row. At least they'll get some learning in tomorrow before what I anticipate is the rest of the week off.

That’s called the engagement model and it’s generally discouraged in my subject/school since it’s not great for rigor.

Besides, on days I do use it, I design their independent work to take the full hour. So I’d still need to cut my assignments down to less than half of what they are.

I have been through many early releases, and I’ve never had a student not get picked up.

I've had many too, and while I've never had a student not get picked up, I have had some where I sat with the kid until after normal dismissal time waiting for parents.

Hopefully knowing the ER is happening now will make it easier for families to set their contingency plans.

Maybe learn to read a weather report. It will be 53 on Thursday. We’ll be back in school that day.

Admin are mad mad, teachers are mad, bus drivers are mad, students are mad- and not just because we don’t want to go to school. Unprecedented 3 hour ER creates a lot of after hours work and coordination for staff tonight.

Speak for yourself. I’m an admin. We’re running the same 3-hour schedule we ran today. Emailed staff to let them know. Easy peasy.

Now we know. May the complaining commence.

Elementary forgetting secondary schools exist. Obviously this is easy for you guys, you should learn when something isn’t directed towards you 🙄

Same. Honestly I hope this changes to a closure because this seems bad for the kids. It supposedly will be snowing when my MS kid comes home at noon.
