Snow Day next Tuesday?

I think I saw one on the main street a half hour ago in my neighborhood. Not on my cul de sac, though.

I think/hope they will have school on Thursday with the temperature getting so high. it's a shame it won't be pure sunshine. The rain may be an issue/lead to some drainage issues with all the snow melting. Given how long it takes to get side-streets clear-might be a delay in the hopes a few more get cleared. A least you get a lot of kids back to school, the ones who need free lunch get their meal and the ones who can't make it in don't miss that much instruction.

Currently measured just over 5" in McLean, no plow in sight, still snowing. But, ok.

No plows Vienna and still coming down- at least 4-5 here

This is the South (technically) - they won’t start plowing the neighborhoods and side streets until after the snow is over. I was actually at my IL’s in the Pittsburgh suburbs over the MLK day long weekend and they got some snow, and the plow came down their side street seemingly once an hour when it was still snowing! They’re not going to do that here unless you live directly on a main artery.

We had mid-snow plows in Vienna for the last storm a couple weeks ago.

Same in Oak Hill. We've had two plows already.

I'm also in Oak Hill and we haven't seen a plow yet. I'm not sure if the main road has been plowed.

It’s so inconsistent. Usually I never see a plow on my cul de sac (chantilly) until a day or two after the snow, but tonight the plow has come twice.

CLOSED FOR THE WEEK, there will still be snow on Thursday, and Friday is the parade and over 1,000,000 people are going to go to Philly for it. We're so my kids will not be going to school if they decided to open that day, neither is the principal of this elementary school .

Wait, what? Close school because *our sports teams rival team* won a game and is having a parade...in Philadelphia? That's hysterical. Thanks for the laugh.

Our unplowed street is already down to the asphalt after a few cars passed through. Temps aren’t expected to go below freezing. The problem with the last storm was the low temperatures which caused compacted ice and refreeze. We’re just going to have a lot of slush through Thursday evening.

Hey just checking in on this to see how it panned out?

After shoveling my driveway I think unless we get some heavy rain tonight, tomorrow will be closed

Even if the main streets get plowed, school could still cancel, yes? Sidewalks for walkers and bus riders are still heavily covered in snow… and they may not even get to every road today.

We are supposed to get half an inch of rain at like 34 degrees. Half of this will be gone tomorrow. Delay at most and honestly it won’t be needed.

SLUSH isn't great for cars or busses.
