Yup

Dems should tell them fine, come up with something you can pass on your own. No dem votes if you are going to renege on your word as soon as Elon tells you to.

This.

Better yet, Schumer and Jeffries should hold a press conference and say they won’t be attending any negotiations unless Elon is there since that’s who is giving the republicans their orders.

I love this!

YES!!!

ATCs and TSA won’t get paid during the busiest part of the year.

Something will pass by Friday because Congress wants to go home. They will find an excuse to give Trump the middle finger and Trump will accept it because his a weak, lame duck and Musk will Xhit some lies and we'll all move on.

I doubt it. Trump shut the government down right before Christmas in 2018 for 5 weeks. He isn’t even President yet, and somehow these fools are letting him run the show. How is that going to look in the history books? “The GOP followed the President-ELECT’s lead and shut down the government for…. Costing the government $XX… “ It’s so stupid.

Trump will say "it happened under Biden" and his idiot followers with a 5th grade education will cheer it on.

Then President Doge will convince Rs in Congress to raise the debt ceiling to bankrupt the country like every Trump company, and his idiot followers will cheer him on.

And why isn’t Biden saying anything now?

Because he's lost faith in the American people.....many of us have. The morons voted and now we all deal with the chaos.

It's just so god da*n disheartening.

As someone posted on DCUM he did a better job lying to voters. So, yes, it seems like everyone is actually going to bend to him, including the media. Goodbye government, goodbye health care, goodbye disaster relief, goodbye reasonably priced eggs, goodbye federal oversight of education. The billionaires, at least, are loving it!

And the rich get richer.....

I feel like trump and musk just want to let it all burn and so it will. It is all so exhausting. But I hope it kills them in the midterms. And I hope some of the republicans get tired of being bullied by musk. Will trump get mad that it seems like musk controls the agenda? He likes to be the decider.

I want to go back to the days when "Idiocracy" was just a funny movie and not real life.

Busiest time of the year for airports and TSA. Want to show people why government is important? Now is the time.

They should work. This is what America elected.

Just asking but why is the shutdown bad for republicans? Don't they get better negotiating advantage when Trump takes over in a few weeks with full congressional control.

I'm just asking about the politics and not whether this shutdown is wrong or bad for federal workers which is without question.

Meh seems like a nothing burger to me. Don't have family that are federal workers. Don't use federal services or transfer payments. Don't plan on traveling for the next few weeks.

If there is a shutdown, be sure to thank the fed employees at your local airport, since they will be required to work for free.

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a dodge attempt to get federal workers to quit over the no paycheck issue.

So it’s all about you? This is the selfish asshatery that got the Orange Felon re-elected. Me, me, me.

They didn't last time. And the thing is, there's nothing wrong with this CR. It had 1500 pages of bipartisan spending for various needed things, added by both Rs and Ds. There's no problem with this CR except that Musk tweeted that he didn't like it.
