There has never been a time when the government shut down and the country was better for it. And no the GOP has never gained politically from shut downs, and the party has caused 100% of them. |
The shutdown will force a pause in inaugural preparations and funding.
Oh well. |
It’s bad for Republicans because it makes people angry. |
Apparently the House GOP has a plan forward. We'll see.

Hahaha. Yes you do use federal services but thank you for illustrating why we are in this mess. |
They had a plan before too. We’ll see if this one is in good faith or not. |
But does Elon like it? Turns out that’s all that matters |
+1. The stupidity is just too much for words. |
I'm sure pretty engaged voters will attribute blame appropriately but let's face it the majority are not informed and this will be a distant memory by the times the midterms rolls around. |
When your party is the cause of the shutdown you have to entice the other parties back to the table to negotiate and what you offer has to be worth it to them or make them look bad. That’s harder to do, when there was a deal on the table that offered things both sides wanted and many needed and you blow it up anyway. It’s harder still when you’re doing this near a major and usually expensive holiday. iAnother problem is the funding deadline does not come up out of the blue meaning there was lots of time to actually focus on getting this done. Further, many people don’t realize the federal services that actually impact their lives, UNTIL things drastically slow down or come to a stop. It’s like a domino effect. Essential workers continue coming to work for a time (maybe) on the idea they will get back pay. However, their bills and daily lives don’t stop so eventually they too get frustrated. Who are they going to blame? |
The dems will not help on this and there won't be enough GOP to support it. |
President Elon Musk getting the shutdown he wanted. |
The stupid is strong with this one. |
We'll see. If they give the Ds something, they'll bring them over. Since Johnson can't count on his party for votes. |
So for the millions of people traveling to see family over Christmas, they should just...change their plans on a dime? |
