Pride Black 2027, right? Good news. |
Here we go again... Not sure the statistics bear this out. It looks like there was a pretty good BLC "pipeline" just based not he quality of the team, and Pride did fine in the number of Capital offers, just as they did the year before and the year before that. Even if there was a slight boost for playing with Stars, you are still choosing to play for a much lower ranked team in much lower brackets, against much lower ranked competition. Not sure that's worth the development hit for most players. |
And the 2026 team. |
Stars 27 was a fairly weak team. I tend to agree with the original comment. If there’s a decent chance your daughter could make one of the two Capital teams, it seems like moving to Stars makes sense. If your daughter is very good or towards the bottom, you’re probably better off staying where she’s happy. The very top players will make it regardless and the weakest players will not whether they are on Stars or not. It’s the middle of the pack that would benefit from the Stars boost. |
"Culture matters and Capital has a strong culture. The girls like each other. They understand they are there to support each other. During Orange 2024's most recent run, the girls and coaches focused their efforts on showcasing uncommitted teammates. The parents socialize together and like each other. The cross-selling of coaching and training can become costly and feels a little annoying, but is not necessary to participate in those. Finally, from this board one can discern that there are folks that have left the club or feel burned by it is some other way. I don't know or deny their experiences. It was not ours."
My DD did not tryout for CLC because she heard from current CLC players that are on her high school team that they didn't like the culture on their respective Capital teams. |
I've met enough douchey Capital parents to steer clear of there. |
Yes. Understood girls (parents) were terrified to leave because they would lose their spot on the team and many knew they would not get a CLC B spot. |
|
That’s really too bad. Our CLC experience has been awesome - really nice girls and parents. We look forward to traveling with the team each season! |
This is not true. Pride and Capital only play two of the same tournaments. One they played in the same bracket and the other pride played one bracket above and didn't fair well (the were originally slotted to play in the same bracket as orange and the two teams were supposed to play again, but katie moved their bracket so they didn't have to risk loosing to a B team). Orange plays in two invitational tournaments where there is heavy recruiting and Pride is not invited to attend so there is no comparing which level brackets they played in in those two tournaments. Finally, organge plays in a 5th tournament to maximize recruiting opportunity and pride does not. One of the tournaments pride plays in that orange does not attracts only B level college coaches. |
Great post! Big number of coaches watched the Cap Orange 25 team at the G8 tournament which Pride was not invited to. Funny to see Pride’s A team try to keep up with 25 Orange. |
For people who don't understand, college coaches dont care what rank a team is - or that Pride black is an A team and Capital Orange is a B team. The brand of the club and the individual talent is what gets a girl recruited If the team is <20 and between 20 and 100 it just doesn't matter. They are looking at individuals not teams UNLESS, everyone on the team is top notch, and in that case, the team is ranked higher than 20. Girls get recruited all the time to great D1 teams from clubs with poor rankings. It.doesnt.matter. (been through recruiting so I know) |
The talent difference between a 59th ranked team and a 77th ranked team is nothing and literally means nothing to college coaches. Either could beat the other on any given day. |
Cap Orange played great down the stretch. The 77 ranking likely to improve too |
Again, club rank does not matter if the team is ranked above 20-25. Its the top 25 and the rest from college coach perspectives. They care about talent and respectable clubs with Directors, staff and coaches that are well respected. |
