The relationship between Stars and Capital proved to be a very strong one this year. The middle school move now is to play for Stars so you’re in the Capital pipeline. This is evidenced by the large number of Stars girls put on both Blue and Orange teams this year. Pride had a much better team with much better players, yet far fewer girls were selected. Unfortunately, we’re in D.C., and politics is everywhere including middle school lacrosse.
Here we go again... Not sure the statistics bear this out. It looks like there was a pretty good BLC "pipeline" just based not he quality of the team, and Pride did fine in the number of Capital offers, just as they did the year before and the year before that. Even if there was a slight boost for playing with Stars, you are still choosing to play for a much lower ranked team in much lower brackets, against much lower ranked competition. Not sure that's worth the development hit for most players.
Stars 27 was a fairly weak team. I tend to agree with the original comment. If there’s a decent chance your daughter could make one of the two Capital teams, it seems like moving to Stars makes sense. If your daughter is very good or towards the bottom, you’re probably better off staying where she’s happy. The very top players will make it regardless and the weakest players will not whether they are on Stars or not. It’s the middle of the pack that would benefit from the Stars boost.
