Yet SW and MnD have girls from Colorado playing for them. DMV parent with kid playing on an A MD "Big 3" team. Never felt like an outsider and my DD loves her team. Agree....DMV players play for these clubs almost every year and are successful. |
Agree....DMV players play for these clubs almost every year and are successful. They want to win and be the best. They will take the best regardless on where they are from. You can tell people that are "newer" because M&D started when CR was still at Hebron, not McD. |
The amount of bad information posted on this site as if it were a well-established fact is silly. The clubs mentioned don't care where the players come from or which HS they play for. End of story. Ignore anyone who overthinks it. |
False |
Exactly, false. Look at the Capital data and make-up between Blue and Orange. The top athletes will be fine no matter what, and that is a smaller percentage. Glad the DMV folks feel welcome in Balto, but people talk out of both sides of their mouth when their DD is concerned. When it comes down to recruiting time, the middle and bottom players, a SPSG girl will be put ahead ahead of a DMV player. |
I wholeheartedly agree there is bad info on this board. BUT I also look at the same info and reach a different conclusion: my experience is that HS does matter with certain clubs in certain situations. Sure, any team is going to take the next Charlotte north, so to speak, but I have seen clubs take a girl from a HS the coach has ties with over another girl from a random school, who is better but maybe not a head and shoulders better. So HS can matter. |
A girl from a DMV private school will get picked over most DMV public schools girls. |
Yet SW and MnD have girls from Colorado playing for them. DMV parent with kid playing on an A MD "Big 3" team. Never felt like an outsider and my DD loves her team. Sure but Colorado doesn’t have a perennial top club team with incredible recruiting results year in and out. DC does. Turning down a spot on Capital if you live in the DMV to play for MnD or SW or Hero’s really isn’t worth it anymore. Capital recruiting is just as good or better than all of the Baltimore and HoCo teams and a girl is likely playing with schoolmates if she goes with Capital which is also a big benefit. Not seeing payoff anymore for schlepping so far to play for another club. |
Wonder why Capital recruiting is now equal to the top MD clubs? |
Anyone know how long Capital takes to make offers after tryouts? Email? Phone call? |
Pretty sure the announcement said notifications would be made Sat. |
I heard 24 hours after tryouts and then 24 hours to decide. |
Just keep in mind many of these selections are made prior to tryouts, so go into this with the right expectations for yourself and daughter. The politics mean the best players do not always make the top team. Not great it works out this way but this is how it’s been and really boils down to 3-5 announcements and a majority of confirmations of who was selected prior to tryouts. Unfortunately the work and politics put in long before tryouts have a bigger impact than the actual tryout. |
Capital 2025 Blue did finish ahead of both Hero’s and SW this weekend at G8. Although it looks like the entire mid Atlantic can’t compete with LI, NJ or MA. |
i think this is correct too. |
