Capitol tryouts

Losses to Aces and Crush MD too. Barely beat Pride Red (??) by one goal (ranked 19) and squeaked by Monster (ranked 16) too.

And they won the Youth National Championship in DE this summer. There’s that to consider too.

Agree, but with Coppermine missing a few stars, and Eagle Stix not attending, the door was open for the #3 team.

The lacrosse dialogue on 28s is better on this thread. Parent drama seems to be the focus on the other one. Plus the next Capital tryouts will be for the 2028s, so why not join the fray.

To respond to the Hero's comments as a non-Hero's affiliated poster, here's my take. Coppermine went 55-3. Not sure losing to them says anything except that you played the best team in the country 3 times. Eagle Stix is an athletic powerhouse and routinely beats everyone but Coppermine. Any top 5-7 team not named Coppermine or Eagle Stix can lose to any other on a given day. Monsters can play above their level on occasion, and also down. And, Hero's is a good matchup for Pride Red. 2028's have played them to the wire twice. (For the double question marks poster, Pride Red 2028s, also tied M&D, Aces, played Crush within 2, beat Sky Walkers twice, and dominated the local teams--so slow your roll.)

What does all that say? On balance, Hero's was probably the 3rd best team all year. Not bad.

Pride Red is ranked 16 - a razor thin Hero’s win against them earns serious double question marks, especially when ex-BLC Hero’s dad guy is all over these forums claiming DMV superiority.

To be honest, you seem to be the same Pride dad claiming the same thing about the BLC dad on multiple threads multiple times. He is living rent free in your head.

So maybe you have a point that Pride should not be ranked as low as they are (although I don’t think they performed very well this summer) but you don’t make a very good case that Heros should not be where they are ranked. Admittedly, some teams match up against other very good teams well, it does not mean that they are equals.

And the #3 team stepped up and did what they were supposed to do. No pleasing some lax dads.

Looks like you switched back to the 2027s. So even though you quoted my post, I've got nothing for you, except to note that the double question marks I responded to were in reference the close games the Pride 2028's played with Hero's Green 2028, not to any 2027 results. You may have read too quickly, or are in the group that no 2028 dialogue should be allowed on this thread.

Fair points. Some quick responses. On Pride 2028s summer--they had a tough start to be sure, and two games where they just didn't show up at 8:00 am. But they finished strong: 3rd place in a very tough pool at Mid-Atlantic, losing only to Crush, and avenged one of their lopsided losses by beating LI Liberty handily. Tied Aces, who had a great summer, in that tourney, and #4 M&D in their last game.

To make a better case for Hero's 2028s:

They played a brutal schedule, and only lost to 5 teams--all in the top 7. 4 of their 10 losses were in November. Their 5 losses to Coppermine and Eagle Stix are nothing to be ashamed of. They avenged their 1-goal losses to Aces and Crush. Hero's struggles with fast, athletic, attack-minded middies, and that's why MDU (at least last season) gave them fits, and Coppermine cruises. They take care of everyone else with machine-like efficiency. Their consistency makes them number 3, and is superior to teams in the #4-7 spots. Good club.

In other words, when you remove Coppermine's holdbacks, they are no longer the best teams.

Can we put this to bed once and for all and stop targeting specific kids? So lame for an adult to do.

Agree it is not appropriate to discuss a situation when specific players are identifiable.

There is a reasonable question about competitive fairness, however, that is worth discussing in the abstract, on whether club lax, at least, should require age verification for more than one tournament a year.

I thought this was a thread dedicated to Capital Tryouts?

Not middle school parents arguing which 2028 team is better...

Wrong thread. Goodbye!!

It is but there are going to be some deviations. Can’t do 31 pages of who is going to make Cap without some sidebars.
