Yep. According to the article it goes both ways---liberals avoiding the south and conservatives avoiding California and New York.

Lol right. Wish conservatives would stay out of those states. Conservatives flock to NYC and California to raise money.

College students?

Visiting Florida now and there are guns all over the place. People just strutting around with pistols on the hip like it is the wild west. Yesterday heard gunshots on a quiet Sunday afternoon in a quiet little state park nature trail in an affluent area. It it the worst.

Really? I'd be curious where this is. Because while we now have permitless conceal carry here, open carry is still illegal. Unlike in, say, Virginia.

^ And by "here" I mean Florida, where I live, and I've never seen people openly carrying. Granted I haven't been to every inch of the state so perhaps this is happening - illegally - in a part of the state I am not familiar with. Would love to hear more details about where you saw people open carrying, though. It is, again, illegal in Florida to open carry.

Lol, didn’t see those red state application #s for class of 2027 didja?

Yea, I saw them. Application numbers are dropping in red states. Per the study, the top states losing applicants are Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and Florida.

Ouch. Don't see New York and California losing anywhere near as much.

The link above doesn't work. Where are those numbers again? We'll wait.

Huh, just googled Auburn (in AL) p, for example, and got this information on c/o 2027:

“The demand for an Auburn degree has never been greater, with the university recently topping 48,000 freshmen applications for fall 2023—an all-time high.

The record number of applications for next fall is a 5% increase from fall 2022.“

Post the link, thanks.

It was extremely agitating. More than one person had pistol openly carried and at least one shot was fired. There is a gun store every few miles. Have you ever actually spent any time in Florida? It's ridiculous.

I live in Florida and open carry isn't legal here. There are a lot of gun stores, yes. But where did you see people wearing guns on their hips? Can you please tell me the name of the city or county? Because, again, it is illegal to open carry in Florida. I've seen it lots in Virginia, where it is legal, but never in Florida, where it is not legal.

You clearly are just fine with the gun culture in Florida so enjoy. I am just visiting and I am not a fan. I will find other places to visit.

I'd just love to know where you are visiting, exactly. Is it Imaginationville, Florida? Or maybe Nonexistent, Florida? I've never been to either of those places but I hear they're quite engrossing and can be whatever you want them to be.
