And that is the biggest issue.

Fine. Study whatever you want and pay for it yourself also instead of demanding the tax payer does.

So you are saying the government should dictate acceptable majors? The GOP has lost its mind.

No I'm saying you are not entitled.

Your right to freedom includes my right to be free from you.

The newly limited reproductive rights of women proves you’re full of hot air.

With your mindset, that reckoning will never occur.

You need a group to hate on just to exist. You aren't comfortable without one.

DP, but I have no problem hating on people because they hate. Why do you support people who hate?

So you want to prevent people from studying in a leigimate field because YOU don't think it is legitimate. Kinda ironic coming from the anti-Vax side of things.

Being far-left is kind of like being religious in that they tend to live in insular communities and avoid having their children exposed to ideas or lifestyles that run counter to their values.

When the ideas are that white christian nationalism is the path for our country, the gaslighting and lying about EVERYTHING is acceptable for public officials and that celebrating traitors like Confedrates is gospel, then ya, I have no problem hating on that. Insular indeed.

Do people on the right always project to this extent?

Maybe you should ask this of the OP. The only reason this thread exists is because many far left parents seek to shelter their children from ideas that affront their values. It's okay. Many communities espouse this sort of insular approach so it must meet its intent.

What "ideas" are you referring to?

Please be specific.

+1
Exactly who are the industries clamoring for gender studies majors?

Sounds great to me. But if you disagree, just pay for school yourself.

Abusing the tax payer is ending in Fl.

This seems like it is mainly ending ideological tests in faculty hiring and the teaching of ideology as fact to students.

Bingo. But we can't have that! /s

So the enslavement of Africans until the Civil War is an ideology?

Nice strawman. And totally expected. You know this isn't about the teaching of history, but do go on.

Your own article acknowledges its very unlikely AP classes will be affected in any way. And the state of Florida already has an alternative in the form of a lot of IB schools. We still had to take the AP exams for funding reasons after we took the IB exams. The fact that the Washington post is writing this article at all is hilarious and speaks of a weird obsession with a state governor almost 1000 miles away.

+ a million
The obsession is real. These people are getting very nervous about DeSantis's popularity.

What planet are you from? That was in the 1920s. Virtually nobody in the state of Florida has a connection that goes much past the 1970s. The real problem in Florida now is all the inbound migration from other states. Clogging up the roads and making it virtually impossible to get to the beach. Terrible.

Of course that’s because the whites chased all the blacks (who they didn’t kill) out of Rosewood.

I imagine of that hadn’t happened their descendants (grandchildren and great grandchildren still alive today) would probably have inherited much more wealth. But that wealth was stolen from those families when they lost everything and never got compensated except for some paltry sums decades later.

The past is never dead. It’s not even past. Especially when societies try to bury it without reconciling with its wrongs. Then it rears its ugly head even more forcefully. No matter what deniers like Desantis try to do.

I dont think it is possible to provide an exhaustive list, but in general, ideas that promote family cohesion, religion, and patriotism.
