FL universities

His father and I discussed the matter and we were not sending him into enemy territory and we definitely would not pay for his tuition, room and board just so that he could attend FSU. Btw, I am an alum of FSU.

I couldn’t sent a child there either after this. Just because DeSantis is being blocked from implementing the most extreme policies this time doesn’t mean the courts will be effective in keep fascism out of Florida.

I’m sorry your kid can’t go to your school. It sucks watching Florida circle the drain.

Sounds like a prime opportunity to distance himself for life from two lunatics. I would jump at that. "Enemy territory."

Meanwhile, none of what is predicted to happen in this thread will ever happen. None of the extremes, and none of the "exodus" or avoidance of Florida Universities. Let's come back in exactly a year and see how dumb all these predictions were.

Sure Jan

Politics aside, we are from NE ant toured both UF and FSU last month. So far these are the only two schools that we've seen that have kitchens in the dorms. How cool is that that 1st year students are not mandated to purchase ridiculously overpriced meal plans and can cook for themselves healthy meals?

This is the political discussion, so let's stay on topic, okay?

There is nothing political about Florida universities and this entire thread should be moved to education. There are tons of people from NE states and California flooding Florida universities regardless of their policies. I think people will vote with their money at the end.

There is nothing political about what DeSantis is doing to New College? Really?

Do you think these current FAMU students think there is nothing political about what Herr DeSantis is doing?

Study out shows that 1 in 4 college applicants are already removing colleges from consideration because of the politics going on in those states. https://wreg.com/news/nation-and-world/one-in-four-college-applicants-avoids-entire-states-for-political-reasons/

God, what a punitive thing to do to your kid because of partisanship. You’re not the one going to college and yes, parents should pay for college.

Yep. According to the article it goes both ways---liberals avoiding the south and conservatives avoiding California and New York.

Visiting Florida now and there are guns all over the place. People just strutting around with pistols on the hip like it is the wild west. Yesterday heard gunshots on a quiet Sunday afternoon in a quiet little state park nature trail in an affluent area. It it the worst.

Some people allow politics to be in first place.

Now that anyone can wear a gun and get one without a check for their mental health, I’m staying out of there. I loved Florida and was a resident, and I’m glad to be gone. Hope they enjoy shooting each other.

Report what? It's business as usual.

Lol right. Wish conservatives would stay out of those states. Conservatives flock to NYC and California to raise money.

Yea, I saw them. Application numbers are dropping in red states. Per the study, the top states losing applicants are Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and Florida.
