Assistant princepal leaving.

Sadly yes. Assistant principals have to work at two different schools before they can become a principal. That’s most likely the reason he is leaving.

Did not know this. Very interesting.

We were told we would be updated as more information became available. Not one email/update was sent, even after the court case results were available back in December 2022. The Navy principal was convicted of DUI but the felony charges were thrown out. That information wasn’t provided, but many of us looked it up. The entire school year has come and gone and yet no committee was ever formed to help find a new principal. Usually the search for a new principal requires a committee to be formed consisting of various community members that interview candidates and provide input (ie. Staff members, parents, AP). Please explain why the Navy community was denied this opportunity. Please explain why the Navy community was not provided one update via email during the entire school year. Please explain why the interim principal at Navy never reached out to the community via email to introduce himself. Now the beloved AP is leaving. What a sh*t show.

Have you considered contacting your school's Regional Principal or Executive Principal?

Yes. I will copy and paste this post verbatim.

So you think he’d dare show his face after what he did to Navy and the community? He’s probably humiliated. There’s no way he’d even want to come back at this point.

Yes, they’ve got diversify their experience to show they can handle all situations. Navy is a fairly easy school to run so it’s good he’s going to a more challenging one for the experience.

I heard the Oak Hill ES principal just resigned. Maybe she is coming over.

How many teachers are bailing from Navy due to the loss of the AP and the principal? Just curious.

Probably a couple or so.

I like the old principal. It is too bad but people make mistakes. It is time to move on and give second chance to him. Maybe someone can set up a Google pool and parents can vote.

My hope is that those vacant positions are the result of wanting to add more teachers. Not replace them. Some of those classes are ridiculously overcrowded at the moment and those year groups desperately need an extra teacher (or two).

If you haven’t already called or emailed those numbers the PTA posted, please do so. The more parents who raise hell the better. And hell hath no fury like a p*ssed off Navy parent.

This is wholly incorrect.

I dont think it is a “have to” situation more like “it helps to” to be able to present themselves as a well-rounded candidate for a principal. “FCPS Principal” do you agree?

I’m not the PP, but a teacher who has seen plenty of first time APs move into principal positions. I guess it “helps” but it’s in no way required.
