Stop fighting over this. Both sides have validity. Anti maskers-have empathy for those who are ill and concerned for justifiable reasons. And be grateful you are healthy. Maskers-continue to stay safe and you cannot change anti maskers minds as they are restless as this is unfortunately longer than anyone anticipated. |
14,000 includes the unvaccinated. Only about 1400 vaccinated individuals have died from covid in Maryland. |
Are you crazy? Do you know how many more people would have died if we had just let it rip? Not to mention collateral damage from hospitals being constantly overwhelmed. The numbers you are looking at resulted from the policy you’re pooh poohing. |
No, not the exact number. But I do know the vast majority would have been elderly and that we wouldn’t have a problem with social security or medicare anymore. |
Shame on you. |
It has nothing to do with being restless. Wearing a cloth mask is ineffective and if you are in an N95 you are protected. Asking people to do something ineffective just because is not only stupid on its own face, it is terrible policy. |
I feel like it is a mistake to classify everyone as masked or anti masker. When cases are sky high and/or there’d a situation where masks are required, I obviously mask. When cases are low, as they are right now, and requirements are relaxed, I don’t mask. I’m not anti, but I don’t need to mask everyday for the rest of my life either. I think we lose a lot of people who would happily comply with masking when needed by insisting it’s some moral failing or willful harm to other people if they don’t mask ALL the time, regardless of the context. |
You do realize covid was killing people in Md for 18 months before the vaccine was widely available, right? You need to look at the number of death in both group AFTER April 30, or whenever it was that everyone *could* get vaccinated. |
PP, that's messed up view. |
|
Same. And o appreciate the CDC’s updated nuanced guidance on this. |
Even which masks are effective has evolved with the virus. At the beginning, a cloth mask with a couple layers to it was fine, especially with limited interactions and distancing. However, with Omicron and its transmissibility, that was no longer the case .
Fwiw, I change how I am masking depending on the current community counts AND what I’m going to be doing. Oh, also how I am feeling - I do still wear lighter masks just to and from school with the kiddo because I constantly have sniffles and just don’t want to share germs just in case. |
That doesn’t make you go hmmm after all you’ve been told that hasn’t turned out to be correct? Really?? |
Pandemics are like wildfires for people. And, similar to wildfires, trying to prevent or stop them disrupts the natural balance of life. “Fire removes low-growing underbrush, cleans the forest floor of debris, opens it up to sunlight, and nourishes the soil. Reducing this competition for nutrients allows established trees to grow stronger and healthier. History teaches us that hundreds of years ago forests had fewer, yet larger, healthier trees.“ |
……. you …. you know we actually do keep track of that right? |
