I read yesterday that something like 45% of Americans got omicron in December-February. I wonder if that will contribute to keeping the case numbers lower than previous waves.

Feel free to skip these posts if they bother you so much. The last time I checked, the flu wasn't a big threat outside of the winter months. The same cannot be said for COVID, so it's worth keeping an eye on where things are throughout the world.

I don’t think that’s the point of this post. It’s a commentary. There are also other viruses aside from covid or flu that go around and no one tracks those strains either.

Exactly. I felt like we didn't great a break between getting our elementary kids vaccinated and Omicron hitting, so you're damn right I'm taking this break now, while I can.

My family is lucky that none of us are immunocomprised, nor do we have high risk conditions. We're all vaxxed/boosted. Numbers here (especially in MoCo, where we live) are low, so what else would we be waiting for?

It may hit. But if we stop looking at cases, and only look at severity, we'll be just fine.

So much natural immunity out there right now, that when it comes through, people won't even know.

For families like ours, with a high risk member, this is going to be a long haul. It's likely that we'll be very restricted again come May. So, taking a chance to do some things while the numbers are low, like we did last summer, and catch our breath before resuming precautions when the risk goes up, makes sense to me.

I hope they'll approve a fourth shot for our high risk person before this comes.

I think you can get a fourth shot if you are higher risk.

Only if your risk is due to being immunocompromised. There are other reasons people can be at higher risk, such as severe lung disease, or advanced age, and those people aren't yet able to get a fourth shot.

that is incorrect, the guidance says, "not limited to the following conditions..." and lists some. It leaves interpretation up to you.,

It says moderate to severe immunocompromise not limited to . . . But it still excludes people whose risk factor isn’t immune related.
