Good coaching at the JV & Varsity level at STA? Do most of the players play on club teams year round as well, or are there multi-sport athletes who play other sports but are still able to make the lax team?

The part about club play could be a rhetorical question. I have gotten to know a few Albans lacrosse families over the years. Emphasis on a few, as very few boys at the high school level play club. I always crack up inside when I hear Albans dads (and moms, yes those generally loony Albans lax moms) prattle on about the Albans lax program needing more commitment from the school, new coaching, improved facilities, recruiting, blah, blah, blah. In other words explaining the weak program by pointing the finger outward, when the best explanation comes from within. In the 6 years I've been immersed in iac lacrosse, each year there are maybe, maybe 2-3 varsity players who also play club. Jeez, apart from the Maroons, every other IAC team has a starting lineup that plays club year round and a bench full of elite club players too. Until the Albans players themselves go full in, which involves year round club play, there is no way the program, in our hotbed area, in what is probably the most competitive conference in the country, will they be anything more than average.

At STA you are required to play a sport every season. Every lacrosse player on the team is a multi sport athlete. Last year for instance the starting goalie was also the goalie for the soccer team. I'm pretty sure most of the lacrosse team also played soccer or football in the fall. I know this is pretty much the same for Landon and Prep. I also know that despite all this, some boys fit in club lacrosse but at the high school level there is no spring part so as not to interfere with varsity play. So to clarify pp, being a multi sport athlete and playing varsity lacrosse and playing club are not mutually exclusive.

Why is SSSAs predicted to be so good this year. Didn't they lose a lot of impact seniors and their best pole. Didn't Albans near them last year? With the Canadian imports to episcopal, why should not the saints be vying for last place in the IAC?

Saints have one of the best FOGOs in the land - they looked very good at the Landon tournament a few weeks ago.

The Saints are a good team and their Fogo should give them a nice start but their midfield and attack are average. Not deep like the others, I say they sit at the 4th seed.

SSSA does have a very good FO guy I think he is going to Michigan
St Alban's FO guy is going to Brown
Bullis FO guy going to Colgate
Prep did not have a stud FO guy last year, but I believe that got a transfer who is going to MD
Landon has a few excellent FO guys, not sure who will get the majority of FO's in the spring
EHS has a pretty good FO guy too

If a team's FO guy gets hot in can make it difficult for the other team, but I don't believe that the SSSA guy is that much above the other FO guys.

So I agree SSSA will fight for 4, 5, 6 not 1, 2 ,3 in the league.

The saints FOGO was the only FOGO in the country last year who gave Shockey a run for his money in the two games the Saints played the Bears.

SSSAS FO guy is going to North Carolina. SSSAS only lost two starters from last year's team. They should be very good this year.

How many commits do they have on the Saints team? My son says more than other IAC and WCAC teams? Is that possible?

Last time I checked, here's the breakdown for commits (D1 and D3) on the IAC teams.

Landon and Prep - 10

Bullis and SSSAS - 8

EHS - 4

St Albans - 3

I've always thought that number of commits on a team does not translate into how good a team actually is.

But these numbers, if accurate, seem to track what most predict as the final IAC standings for 2018.
