It's sure to garner sympathy, perhaps get them more support and force against Russia and no one would believe that they did it. Plus destroy a valuable asset before the enemy does is not unheard-of.

There's no " good reason" for Russia to strike the plant they know it will ramp up action and outrage towards them plus that functional plant would be a valuable asset to them.

It's also possible it was an accidental hit by one or the other and blaming the other works because accidentally striking a nuclear plant makes you an idiot.

This is insane.

You do know that Russia now has control of the plant, right? How do you think this happened?
And, the employees there have stated that Russia's plan is told hold Europe hostage by threatening to turn off the power. Lovely.
There is no way Ukraine would do this. This was Russia.

DP but actually it makes more sense. Why would Russia bombed the plant when they know they need the plant to hold Europe hostage by turning off the power? A plant which would be valuable to them? It seems more likely Ukraine knew Russia was about to take the plant did not want Russia to have that valuable asset (which I agree and would probably do if I was in their shoes).

gee, I wonder where the managers of this fund got the idea to make THAT investment

Luckily they sold off their investments the day before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Thanks for injecting facts into the false information being shared here.
That is why posting the tweets of some random twitterer who seemingly has a narrative to advance is never a good idea.

The act of bombing is the blackmailing of Ukrainians and giving Europeans a taste of what they can do should they continue to bomb it. This is the blackmail you stupid idiot.

Or like pp insisting that it’s the Ukrainians who are shelling their own nuclear power plant, cause “everyone lies”

Let's be honest. The big idiot is Putin. Starving and killing Russian troops. Destroying Russia's entire economy on a scale not seen in history. Uniting the world against him. Re-uniting the West. Re-uniting the US. A decade of planning and effort immediately destroyed by his own hubrism. Even Iran has come out against this folly. Talk about an imbecile. He makes the little guy in North Korea seem tall.

This only matters if they want to conduct a modern warfare and minimize casualties and collateral damage. Now we are at the win at any cost plan, which means maximum casualties and collateral damage. They can absolutely achieve the latter with the army they have.

It's going to be a very ugly weekend in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and maybe Odessa.

This makes it scarier, though, because then all Putin has left are bombs and nukes.

I’m a supporter of CNN and MSNBC. I hate FOX, Newsmax and OAN. But I understand that CNN and MSNBC slant the news, too. CNN and MSNBC have been focusing on Russian failures in Ukraine’s north. They have underreported Russia’s success in the south. Russia’s control of Crimea and its naval superiority in the Black Sea have enabled Russia to make significant gains in the south, including the seizure of the important port city of
Kherson.

Less mud. Easier to supply. But full of its own embarrassments too. That's where the war plans were captured, the intra-Russian battle occurred, the failed sea assault, and of course the radio call that will live forever in history. Russian warship...

CNN etc has been slow on the reporting. Mass media isn't capable of covering something like this anymore. Too many talking heads and not enough real reporters. Gotta go open source if you want to know what's happening when it's happening.

That's idiotic. In what way does it make sense to bomb the training building of a civilian nuclear power plant in order to take it over? The video feed showed the parking lot being shelled as well. It was completely random, indiscriminate Russian artillery fire that easily could have hit one of the reactors.

The Russians are desperate. This is not going as smoothly as they thought it would. It was intimidation. The Ukrainians reportedly surrendered the plant because they feared the Russians would strike the reactors.
