US has no good options in Ukraine

Huge number are not sure. They are blinded by tik tok and not well informed in current affairs. Is this a surprise? I am much more interested in news and the world now than I was at 18.

Serious question: does this mean anything? If RUS simply says “no”, what’s the impact? Can RUS decline to pay now and negotiate a lower payment amount later when the war is over?

A lot of younger Americans aren't old enough to know much about sordid Russian/Soviet history. And, a lot of the social media they visit like reddit is heavily propagandized by Russia and idiotic pro-Putin tankies who go heavy on the usual whataboutism of all of the US military interventions around the globe (while conveniently leaving out that most of them started with some of the USSR's "little green men" destabilizing those countries, arming insurgents, supporting coups, installing Soviet-friendly puppets, etc.)

Was wondering that as well - or offer to pay in Rubles at a bogus exchange rate...

But aren't there legal and contractual terms? Puts them in breach of contract, I'd think. But then what recourses exist against them?

I don’t get this either, why not just let them keep paying? What is the consequence? We seize their assets, shouldn’t we already be doing that to finance Ukraine when this is over?

It means Russia cannot borrow more money, and that's a problem, because every country lives on borrowed money.

Russia is filling Ukraine media with all sorts of misinformation and fake news in advance of an attack. Biden is working with many other countries to discourage Russian aggression and warn of economic sanctions these countries will impose. Biden does not have many choices here.

The Trumpublicans - led by FoxNews - are of course supporting their Russian masters in all this, and saying the US should just let Russia invade other countries without consequence. More traditional Republicans are saying the US should send military support to Ukraine. No matter what Biden does, they’re all sure to try to blame him if Russia invades.

Are there any good options?

Correct, if we didn't go in during the convoy stage with F16 donations or drones, it's Annex Talks in a year.
No better options in Jan, in Feb, in March, in April, in May, in June...

Just biding time, wasting money and human lives until Putin writes his Annexation ticket, to augment his Crimea invasion during the Obama years.

I wouldn't overestimate Russia that much
Russia is having a hard time finding recruits. The pay is horrible, town cemeteries are already filling up, and outside of Moscow, nobody in Russia really understands why they are even fighting in the first place, and in terms of weaponry they are having to dust off ancient tanks from the 1960s. A lot of their elite VDV airborne already got killed off along with many Spetsnaz. Russia has also lost a great many junior officers.

If we give Ukraine precision artillery with longer range than Russian artillery and protect that artillery with air defense they will be decimated. I'm glad to see we're finally starting to do that with HIMARS and other systems.

I don't understand the assertion that human lives are being wasted in this fight. Ukrainian lives are worth nothing in Russian occupied areas, so the choice is to risk lives in the fight or accept a brutal and genocidal occupation.

Isn’t the wend result the same? Annex major cities to Russia. Now or in a year… after more death and money.

No, I think Ukraine will win on the battlefield. At least everywhere but Crimea.
