The family helps with—or doesn’t stand in the way of—what they want to help with and not with what they don’t. That doesn’t seem unusual to me. |
She IS a gold digger. Do you honestly think she would give H the time of day if he were an average joe she met randomly off the street? |
This is embarrassing. It reads like she put Harry in a bad position with: asking him to go to them about her mental health, wanting the prince title for Archie so that he “got security”, crying victim over perceived slights against her from his family, having him do this interview. Harry’s a good man so of course he went along with her.
Oprah is struggling with trying to understand what they are saying for half an hour at least because the story doesn’t add up. She even says so you wanted to have it both ways? And I mean the answer is basically yes. Meghan felt that the money/security should keep coming after their departure. |
Exactly! In point of fact, non subjects - which Meghan was at that time of first introduction - don’t have to curtsy. Michelle Obama did not curtsy. Foreigners don’t have to curtsy. Meghan should not have been expected to until at least after the marriage. Even the Queen thinks royals protocol is BS: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/amp25392223/michelle-obama-queen-protocol-rubbish/ |
He doesn’t have money or a skill. |
he has money. |
It sounds like one jerk made some comments, but not that it was endemic. They need racism to be part of the narrative for the sympathy tour to work though. Seems Charles and the Queen went out of their way to be welcoming, but that she was not temperamentally suited to the position. The firm knew a mature divorced actress with a toxic family would likely not fit in well to an archaic hierarchical structure with rigid protocols. Quelle surprise. |
Oh please. I’m married to a Brit and trust me you pick up on this stuff very quickly. My DH knows protocol and he’s not a freaking Prince. |
I’m not surprised by the level of vitriol in the comments sections of the UK tabloids articles, but it’s a bit shocking to see the hatemongering against Meghan here on an overwhelmingly American forum. What is it, if not reaction to her being an ‘uppity’ woman of color?
I’d love to know how many of you reviling her are MAGA voters. |
Americans do not curtsy, period the end. You can confirm this with Emily Post. Family members do. Thus, the conflict. |
That doesn't mean that Archie didn't have security or that he wasn't on his dad's security plan, the way he's on his dad's health insurance plan. It just means that security isn't always 100% perfect. |
Yes. Family background and class standing is huge in Britain, having Royal blood. They were pissed for a long time that Kate was a 'commoner'. She was reviled for it early in the relationship. |
I agree. They knew she would have a hard time adjusting to the rigidity. They were wise, but she was young & in love & naive.... |
Hi, newbie. (If you are a newbie to these royal watcher threads.) |
+1. The degree of security they require is incredibly expensive. They have to pay for it themselves, so I hope all the people the people whining about how greedy they are with their Netflix and Spotify deals are prepared to stop that line of criticism. |
