If they knew that they had the votes, they would vote. |
Time for the GOP to put up or shut up. |

THIS THIS THIS... kill the demand, supply will die out. I don't blame poor people where ever they come from for wanting to get a job to have a better life. But, if Rs and Trump *really* want to solve the illegal immigration issue, they MUST make hiring them very painful, and hit them where it hurts, ie very high penalty. Right now, the penalty isn't high enough for business owners, from the left or right, to deter them from hiring people under the table, ie, with no Taxpayer ID. Now a days, more illegal immigrants are from visa overstays than crossing the border illegally, as in H2B visas that companies like Trump resorts use and H2As that many farmers (who happen to be mostly Rs) use. I'm thinking that most of the hIb visa holders who tend to be more highly educated aren't the ones who stay here illegally after their visa expire. It's usually the low skilled workers who overstay their visas and continue to work. The second issue is fraudulent taxpayer ID. The federal government needs to better fund the IRS to fight fraud, and that includes rich white people who evade their taxes in the form of offshore accounts (ie, Panama Papers, and I'm sure there are more). |

Leave it to liberals to only pull out key bits.
On film, you have Trump demanding more border security, which includes his wall, you have Trump promising to shut down part of the government if he does not get the security requested, and Schumer and Pelosi saying that what we have now is good enough. ON FILM. Brilliant move on Trump's part |
Fascinating how two people can watch the same meeting and arrive at two different conclusions. You think he owned the libs. Others see him getting owned. I see both perspectives on Twitter, as well as here. Did you watch the meeting live? |
Brilliant indeed, owning the Trump shutdown. |
“I’m told by senior House GOP sources that NO $5 billion wall funding bill will reach the floor this week. Republicans don’t have enough members in town to get this passed.” - Elaina Plott, The Atlantic |
| This week? What about next week? |
Don't members of Congress get summoned back into town for important votes? |
Trump didn't mention border security until Pelosi did. Before that it was the wall and only the wall. Chuck and Nancy even orchestrated that and somehow you are too stupid to understand it. |
I didn't read "The Art of the Deal," but I have read other books on negotiating and all of those books say you have to offer something to get something. He wanted a wall. He wanted a wall for two years. He's needed Democrats in the Senate for two years. And in all that time, he has never one single thing in exchange for a wall. It was painfully obvious at this meeting. All he offered was a threat to shutdown. Instead of offering carrots, he offered to smack all three of them with a stick, wait two weeks, and let Pelosi smack him back. What a deal! |
A huge number of Rs are retiring or were voted out. Not much you can do to compel them to return. Trump definitely should have nailed down his border funding before he lost the House.womp womp. |
The whole thing. Schumer asked for it to continue privately. Not Trump. Why don’t Pelosi and Schumer want a wall? |
Why don’t Dems want border protection? |
