Not sure who Shemer is but I guess Trump will get what he wants just like he got Mexico to pay for the wall. Ha ha. |
+1 didn’t trump promise Mexico would pay for the wall? Why are hundreds of thousands of Americans foregoing their paychecks for time worked because Trumo couldn’t seal the deal? |
|
It's just a matter of time before the fork gets stuck into Trump. Most of the Rs don't want the wall and the Ds coming in might just be the excuse they need. |
Americans blame Trump (rightly so) for the shutdown.
|
What fig leaf are they going to provide the base with? |
Duh! What did Trump expect after braying that this was his shutdown? |
Yes, that's the question. I figure that the House will pass something with some more money for the "border barrier" (whatever that means), but not the full $5 billion. That will pass and go to the Senate where it will pass. Trump will either sign it or veto. |
Pence was already saying two days ago that Trump would settle for 2.5 bn for his wall. But the Dems want the agreement that both the Senate and House were prepared to go forward with weeks ago. Trump played his hand and he is losing. |
| Regardless of what Congrss passes, there will be decades of eminent domain cases involving any land that current owners aren't willing to sell, costing tax payers many more millions of dollars in legal expenses. No continuous wall will be built anytime soon. |
|
The wall is being morphed into the wall system right now.
Pretty soon the story will be the administration was never planning an actual 30 ft wall, because that would be ridiculous, but a system of technological and physical barriers. Someone is probably diligently working on words to fit the acronym W.A.L.L. |
John Kelly points out today that the wall isn’t really a wall but in fact a fence similar to what the US has always had in place. But let’s shut down the Government and not pay a million federal workers so he can indulge his whim.
|
And more damage to our environment as the shutdown continues.
|
Pretty much. It's not doing a great job now which is why most people don't want billions poured into it. Stopping rich employers from hiring cheap economic illegals would make more of a difference at this point. And if the Republicans (who still control Congress as of today, as well as the other branches of government) wanted this, it could have been done, you would think. |
| How did Trump latch onto this wall idea like a limpet in the first place? Did they just figure that it was the easiest way to keep the base stoked during the campaign? |
Tax money is confiscated |
