Why are Democrats so opposed to making it even slightly more difficult for illegals to come in? Are they representing U.S. citizens or foreigners breaking our laws?
Look at the transcript from yesterday and read any of the dozens of statements Dems have put out. Dems are happy to give money for real border security. But they won’t give one penny for trump’s stupid wall. Fat Donnie is the reason we can’t have progress on border security.
From what I've read, the Democrats are offering temporary, reversible actions. They are opposed to a permanent solution, like a border wall.
A wall isn't a permanent solution.
A far better use of resources would be to: 1) beef up the immigration court system so that cases can be adjudicated more quickly. That there are illegal immigrants and asylum seekers lingering in limbo for years is ridiculous; and 2) step up prosecutions of those hiring illegal immigrants. Without jobs, there is no reason to come to America.
Exactly. The wall is a stupid, EXPENSIVE symbol. Money would be more effective elsewhere.
THIS THIS THIS... kill the demand, supply will die out. I don't blame poor people where ever they come from for wanting to get a job to have a better life. But, if Rs and Trump *really* want to solve the illegal immigration issue, they MUST make hiring them very painful, and hit them where it hurts, ie very high penalty. Right now, the penalty isn't high enough for business owners, from the left or right, to deter them from hiring people under the table, ie, with no Taxpayer ID. Now a days, more illegal immigrants are from visa overstays than crossing the border illegally, as in H2B visas that companies like Trump resorts use and H2As that many farmers (who happen to be mostly Rs) use. I'm thinking that most of the hIb visa holders who tend to be more highly educated aren't the ones who stay here illegally after their visa expire. It's usually the low skilled workers who overstay their visas and continue to work. The second issue is fraudulent taxpayer ID. The federal government needs to better fund the IRS to fight fraud, and that includes rich white people who evade their taxes in the form of offshore accounts (ie, Panama Papers, and I'm sure there are more).
