Trump Threatens to Shutdown Government if No $ for his Border Wall

Shut down all the employers that hire illegal immigrants and the supply will dry up.

Well they had a raid at the Herndon 7-11 where the illegals congregate for day work, and the liberals screamed bloody murder.

Even McTurtle says no shutdown.

But December is a super awesome time to shutdown interior (wildfires and DC tourism for the holidays), HHS (flu season) and Agriculture (the Farm Bill is being held hostage in the middle of tariffs). /s

What a moron. If he vetos, he alone owns the outcome. Seems like his meodwesterm voters would not be pleased. And since these bills have mostly already been negotiated, he might well get a veto overridden by a Congress of his own peeps.

52% of Americans oppose a border wall, BTW

Again. What a moron.

This is why Republicans keep losing elections.

What part of "Shut down all the employers" did you not understand?

+1. Prosecute the employers. Except the GOP doesn’t want to do that because so many of the farm owners depend on cheap illegal labor (like GOP Rep’s Devin Nunes’ family.)

They know that if they do, the Democrats will make it all about racism - and use it as scare tactics for the 2020 election. Just look at how this forum reacts to comolaints about illegal immigration.

I can't beleive how twisted Democrats have become. If we want to protect our country against an unending stream of poor, unskilled, barely literate foreigners who arrive here in violation of our laws and will lower the overall caliber of our society, we're considered the bad ones. That's because liberals see inequality as the root of all evil, and want the U.S. to come down toward the level of 3rd world countries. It was Obama's vision for world peace.

A wall doesn't solve the problem. That seems to be the thing that you and Trump don't understand. There aren't HORDES of ILLEGALS POURING over our borders. Most of the illegals are overstaying visas, like Melania did. And the reason they do, is because private (mostly GOP owned) businesses employ them.

Solve that issue, and you don't need to spend a penny on a stupid wall.

It's about half and half.

And the ones streaming over the border illegally are causing the most negative impact to our country. They tend to be poor and unskilled, and Americans have to educate and feed their children, and then we have to provide full support for their anchor baby. Beyond that, they group up two and three families to an apartment and lower the appeal - and value - of those neighborhoods.

Get rid of the anchor baby law, and the problem will be cut in half. Also require illegals to pay for 5% of the cost of educating their kids! which amounts to $500 to $700 each. Americans such as myself will be stuck covering the other 95%. Good deal for people who sneak into our country, don't you think?

Pssttt... the “anchor baby law” is the US Constitution. You are advocating getting rid of the Constitution? What will be there protecting your guns? The stupid is strong...

+100000

This is exactly why the GOP secretly LOVES illegal immigration.

Why hasn’t trump gotten the funding for this wall yet? I think it is a ridiculous idea and am a Democrat but trump has had full party control of Congress for two years. This has nothing to do with Democratic opposition.

It would solve the caravan problem as I'm sure they will keep coming.
this is a multisolution problem. The wall is one solution, a biometric entry/exit system would solve the visa overstay issue. Other solutions should be on the table too.

7-11 will pay a small fine that's less than the money they saved by hiring illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, the people they hired will spend months in jail waiting to get their 5 minutes before a judge then deported to a countries that has no place for them. They will be kept a private jail in poor conditions but high profit.

7-11 will hire new illegal immigrants to take their place. The deported illegal immigrants will find new work as coyotes helping other people climb over the border wall.

Businesses will continue to back politicians who refuse to engage in real immigration reform.

It won't solve the caravan problem because all those people are planning to turn themselves in at a legal entry port. Meanwhile, the one attempt at real reform that was worked out between Trump and Democrats was immediately scuttled by Republicans.

When I see some white, Trump-voting farmers sent to prison for hiring illegal immigrants, I will believe this is about respect for the law.

Until then, I will assume it’s about scapegoating brown people for political gain.

Boy that sounds good. Been hearing that from Republicans for years. But two years of full Republican rule has opened America's eyes.

LOL you can't possibly believe that. Some have already been arrested for illegal entry. Read the interviews. Most say they are coming to find work. Being poor is not a reason for asylum. Let. Them line up for an asylum interview but quite a few have no intention of going the legal route.
