Sure, okay. I'm sure some dumbass will believe that.

I agree that the most pretentious character on a show trying to mock pretentious characters is Jill herself. She's a born & bred Upper East Sider writing & acting in a show where she constantly rolls her eyes at the Upper East Side life around her. If wearing black nail polish makes her so much cooler & wiser & "real" than they, why does she live there?? I hope that she is smart enough to be writing the show to, in the end, make fun of herself for faux rejecting while earnestly embracing with open arms the life & characters she claims to ridicule.

This is the biggest reason the show falls flat for me. That and its so exaggerated its not funny just sort of cringy and full of second hand embarrassment for Jill.

Also her smooth as glass forehead doesn't move even when she pulls her crazy zany faces - botox.

Hilarious from start to stop. And the characters have developed since the first show. And I don't care what anyone says about Jill and her looks. As intelligent as everyone claims to be around here it blows my mind that no one "gets" that her being so unattractive is the whole point! she is the OPPOSITE of the UES!

So you are saying they purposely chose an overly botoxed actress with huge teeth and straggly hair?

no, yes and yes? where do you see Botox on Jill? do you even know who the character is?

+1
She doesn't look botoxed to me at all - that would defeat the purpose of having her look "different" from all the other UES clones. She just has an unusual look to her, but it's not bad. Honestly, some people actually seem offended by the way she looks, as in "how dare they cast someone who isn't conventionally pretty!". Kind of sad how women judge other women on their looks, isn't it?

totally agree. she's endearing, I think. I'd be friends with her any day over any of the other women on the show.

Same here. I bet she'd be a hoot to hang around with.

Wow, taking this show a little too seriously, aren't you?! It's just satire, and yes, Jill is mocking herself as much as any other character. Obviously! Why the outrage? Sense of humor on vacay?

46 here and I have the same type of forehead. Amazing what years of sunscreen can do for you. Might want to try it!

I don't think she comes across as "cooler and wiser" than the other UES moms - she's shown how insecure she is about getting her kids into the "right" schools, hired a nanny, etc. etc. It's just that when she does all these stereotypical things, she makes it funny. You know, so the viewers can laugh. Most of them, anyway.

isn't that the truth. Sorry, but this 49 year old always wears sunscreen too, and I never "partied" in my 20s, always wear a hat when I know I'm going to be in the sun for an extended period of time...and you should see the rest of my face. Literally not one line. Yes my face has thinned out due to my age, but zero wrinkles.
Maybe someone is injecting botox in my face while I'm sleeping! Ooh I bet that's it.

I love the show and hope it is renewed. It's for all of the Sex and The City types who eventually hunkered down and got married.

I feel like an idiot for feeling bad about what's his name and his secretary. Damn you show, you sucked me in.

Lex is the one character I truly can't stand! Yuck. The names of their kids (Lex and Brooke's) crack me up - Rutherford, Langley, and I can't remember the others, but they're equally pretentious. I love Abby Elliot's delivery.

So when you smile, talk or make an expression your forehead doesn't move at all? Amazing.

Utoh, thread police is back. Nobody say anything remotely negative about the show or you'll get a beat down.
