Odd Mom Out - My new obsession!

These kinds of shows crack me up!

I think Happyish is hilarious and Odd mom out was very funny.
It suits my raised on Long Island, self deprecating, complaining kind of humor and I identify with the first world problems of it all and the embarrassment that does with them.

Don't yuck my yum!

agree with others-wanted to like it but "trying too hard" comes to mind..more sarcasm and subtle humor would improve the show. I do not like the lead actress either-I find her very cheesy and not genuine at all.

I am all for guilty pleasure TV but this is a real insult to the viewers intelligence.

On a side note, do you think Happyish is funny?

OP here. your question goes to show that "these types of comedies" are for a specific taste or crowd.

I dont agree with any of the negative comments about Odd Mom - I think its hilarious. The lead is obviously living "sarcastically" and loves herself despite being told she should be filled with self-loathing. And the comments about her body are silly. she's the classic skinny-fat. and I love that she lives in her underwear when she's home and that her DH is seemingly normal. And yes, her life seems very similar to characters on DCUM. I guess it depends on which forums you frequent.

I also love Girfriend's Guide and YES Happyish is very funny but in a dramatic kind of way? Its obviously not a drama, but its not a classic comedy show either. Drama-dy?

To each their own. I started this thread because I enjoyed the show, and yes I am surprised at the number of negative comments but I am certainly not going to quarrel about it!

My DVR will continue recording Odd Mom, Girlfriend's Guide, Happy-ish along with all the other wonderful garbage on BRAVO!

What is living sarcastically?

Living "sarcastically" appears to involve wearing black nail polish and dancing in your underwear. Because you're edgy that way.

The lead is apparently a matronly manic pixie dream girl.

Funny, I knew within the first 30 seconds that it was my new favorite show! I think its hilarious.

I tend to agree with the PP that said this thread might be a put on by bravo.

In 30 seconds this became your favorite show and you are now obsessed with it? Really"

I am a guy and I liked it a lot. Was funny. Had my watch the first episode and she said the lead is ugly but a little funny.

Not sure, but based on the show, it comes across as a mental disorder.

What is "skinny-fat"?

Anonymous wrote:Grossly stereotypical. I've lived UES and DC. I agree, the lead is a terrible actress, she can't carry this.

I suspect that's why you consider it stereotypical

They are making fun of soul cycle specifically which is cult like in NYC and deserves to be made fun of.

I'm thinking this show struck a real nerve with people in this area. I encounter this type of behavior on a daily basis in the DC area and I can SO relate to the lead characters views. It's 'bug under a microscope' funny.

And in Cali too. Agreed.
