Yesterday it was the top thread most of the day as MAGA trolls furiously pushed back any suggestions that he might be from their side or had mental health issues. I don’t know if it was just a handful of people promoting MAGA talking points, but they were relentless.

I'm MAGA and early on I said it was irrelevant who he voted for. The guy clearly has issues. And I thought he was probably a big lefty, but again, it's stupid to point to a madman and say "this person represents everyone with those beliefs." You're either someone who believes political violence is justified or you're not. Most people do not believe in political violence. But there are people on both the right and the left who believe it. A democrat who isn't violent has a lot more in common with a MAGA who isn't violent than either have with the militants in their own party. I think the real issue is when people wink and nod at the violent people in their own party while claiming that there's no violence. Yes there is. On both sides. (Yes. Both. SiDeS.)

It is irrelevant who he voted for, but you have to be honest that the rhetoric from the right and the impunity that Trump and his administration are willing to resort to violence (ICE, the thugs who roughed up Senator Padilla, they guy who drove into the "no kings" rally in Charlotesville as examples from just the past couple of days) does not help return the country to settling issues at the ballot box and through debate, rather than inflame and foster more violence.

It is core to MAGA and the project of the violence from the left is just that. Yes, there are bad actors on all sides, but the facts matter. A lot of the vioence coming out of the 2020 protests were right wingers using those protests to agitate. Look it up. I am not saying there are not bad actors on the left and also the anarchists - there are, but lets be honest, the MAGA leadership is all about projecting power through violence, it is core to the message so that people will be fearful and cower. I think we saw yesterday that Americans are not going to fall prey the way the Turks, Russians and Hugarians have.

The country is too big.

I think it's natural to key in on perceived threats. I would write the same thing that you wrote, but about the left. I am legit worried about violence from the left. Just yesterday a man came into the gym, scowling and stalking around. Then I noticed he was wearing a shirt with "No Kings!" etc scrawled with a sharpie pen. And my instant reaction was fear, because the gym was basically empty and it was just me and my young son.

Those kinds of instincts are real and biologically driven. But they still need to be balanced with reality. In my real life, I am friends with as many democrats as Republicans, and none of my democratic friends would dream of committing political violence.

If you live in a bubble, it's really easy to convince yourself that the other side is evil. I'm not going to list all the many, many instances of left wing terrorism, such as the summer of 2020 in which downtowns were hollowed out after being set on fire. You may not call that terrorism, but anyone on the right would. It's up to decent people to fight against that kind of thing regardless of the alleged motivations.

A man wearing a tshirt scared you?

+1. How many No Kings protestors committed acts of unprovoked violence? Have walked to to a random person— and their kid— and attacked them out of nowhere?

Noe many MAGAs, yesterday alone, attempted to kill,(or did kill in the case of the Minn lawmakers) people who were peacefully protesting or just liberals just living their lives?

Maggots have no right to call dems (or anyone) snowflakes. They are the most persecuted, self victimized crybaby whining snowflakes on earth. This scenario would be hilarious if they didn’t use this “fear” to funnel hate against others.

All in blue cities I’m sure. Well, they just went up the list for the next places where President Trump deploys troops and pulls their funding.

Why don’t you post a link to prove that the person who did this was a “crazy right wing gun nut.”

As it turns out, the person was a “crazy right wing gun nut - and a Christian nut too.

Police had gone to the home for a wellness check - I think because of the other shooting.
The ACTUAL police confronted him at the home... he opened fire then retreated into the home. They assume he escaped out the back.
They reiterated that this person was impersonating an officer - not an actual officer.

They have informed the public not to answer the door for police unless TWO officers are present.

He is on foot. They have his car. This guy is going to be caught. Hopefully, soon.
This is absolutely horrific. I cannot imagine what the people in MN are going through right now.
God bless the victims.

Yeah, well, the shooter was a big Christian, so ......

95% of American adults are in one of the two political bubbles. They only receive and process half-truths that support their bias. This being said 99.9999% of American are peaceful and loving people who would never harm a fly. This includes the babbling idiot you saw in the gym lol.

This is complete crap. Less than a third of Americans are paying close attention to any political news at all. Remember how the most googled question on election day was “did Biden drop out?”

Excellent point. Only Democrats would be asking such a question. MAGA already knew who they were voting for.

Indeed.

- He pretended to be trained by private security and the military
- He and his roommate "played" army
- He was anti-abortion

This was another case of a little man who had self esteem issues who wanted to make a big splash, blamed others for his lack of accomplishments. It's scary AF that such men can buy guns.

Pu-leeeeeeze. Dems calling every Republican vile, deplorable, stupid, Nazi, Fascist, Hitler….

My MAGA brother posted this yesterday. He did take it down after I asked him if he would mow me over if I were protesting as he knows my political beliefs are different. Note that the cartoon graphic shows a car mowing over children.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14EnN7kBQDH/

FB page is full of toxic sh*t like this.

Look at the Proud Boys, the far/alt right, thr WSJ (a right leaning publication!) report this week of far right types calling for violence against protesters. Not violent protesters, any protesters.

And look at statistics over anecdotes on Fox News accompanied by fiery photos.. Reuters did an analysis of political violence and it is higher on the right.

You were prescient..

Did Fox News report this?

Or what about when this car mowed into a crowd of protesters in Chicago a few days ago when yes, that is what MAGA propaganda sites advocate to their followers per the above?

If you want to say the right doesn't engage in political violence, get your head out of your arse.

I checked Fox News and the New York Post and they didn’t mention the story
. Then I asked Grok if the RW news covered it and it said only the Daily Mail did out of all the RW news outlets.

If we’re not all operating from the same set of facts, how can we have a functioning democracy?
