Not in DC. Where is it that you live that you are personally so affected?

Alexandria, Virginia. Illegal immigrants (and those brought here under the admins insane TPS programs) have degraded this City and is crushing our public services and infrastructure. But, I agree that DC proper’s abject failure to address crime by US citizens personally affects more people in DC than the illegal immigrant invasion.

How has it affected you?

I have children in public schools which are overcrowded and unable to educate. The district stupidly chooses to allow 22 year old ELL students to go to high school. So my 14 year old sophomore girl is in gym class with a 22 year old. My car insurance rates are increasing. Access to medical care is diminished and long waits at the ER. There was a body found in our local playground a few years back - gang related. The number of cars parked on residential streets is insane. I can go on. Again - the City’s lack of governance is the heart of the problem, but the continuous stream of people exacerbates it.

What a patronizing post. Mass illegal immigration is a threat to the jobs and wages of blue collar workers, even Bernie Sanders admitted it before the Democrats went crazy by supporting open borders. Importing large numbers of impoverished, uneducated, low wage, non-English speaking migrants into a community has a tremendous negative effect on that community. I’ve seen it in the city I live in. The schools are terrible and full of ELL, housing prices are very high, car insurance rates keep rising, etc. I want to move, but I have no confidence that the Democrats won’t flood my new community and school system with more indigent migrants. I have no problem with legal immigration of people who have skills we need, speak English and are able to provide for themselves. I am tremendously against mass illegal immigration of unskilled migrants into the country. Liberals have disregarded people’s concerns over immigration and then turn around and wonder why Donald Trump has so much support. People disliking Democrat economic and immigration policies are why he has so much support, but you just turn around and insult all of us who support him while diminishing our concerns.

Please post the link where Bernie sanders said illegal immigrants were taking blue collar jobs from American workers. What any one on the planet earth knows is that it’s very different. Immigrants are performing important work that Americans simply do not want to do. Who do you think is picking your fruit? Or defending forest fires? We need immigration- and no, not just highly skilled workers like you claim (although as we know, many immigrants arrive who are trained and skilled, but do menial jobs in the US for a time).

You are purposely obtuse and a manipulative liar.

Bernie Sanders used to be against illegal immigration, saying it makes Americans poorer and ends America as a nation-state.

I don’t believe illegal immigrants are doing jobs Americans won’t do in many instances. I have never heard of Americans being willing to do construction work, for example. I think they are doing these jobs at wages Americans can’t accept and can’t live on. Companies are hiring illegal immigrants out of greed.

ILLEGAL immigration

And? The discussion in the video you posted is about open borders. And yes, Bernie says he does not agree with that. You think this is somehow proving your argument and it is not.

When millions of unvetted immigrants move into our country with no consequences, how can you think that's not basically an open border?

A recent study by the US Department of Health and Human Services has found an overwhelming positive fiscal impact stemming from the presence of refugees and asylees in the US. The report, The Fiscal Impact of Refugees and Asylees at the Federal, State, and Local Levels From 2005-2019, shows that refugees and asylees have generated $123.8 billion in net fiscal benefit to the US economy and government budgets, and have contributed more tax revenue than they cost the government over this 15-year period.

It makes absolutely zero sense why anyone is allowing a gang member to be in the US for even a day, much less come in at all. I don't see how it's not been tackled better already.

I think you’re lying. If you were truly a recent immigrant you’d know that immigrants are not ‘criminals’, they are those fleeing poverty and war and seeking a better life, just as you did. And my great grandparents did. My great grandfather was illegal.

Dp. What? Your great grandfather was very likely not illegal. He was probably vetted at the border, like many of our parents and grandparents were. My mother came over in the 1950’s. She was sponsored by her aunt. She had to have a sponsor who would assume responsibility for her so she would not be a burden on the state. She would not have been allowed to immigrate otherwise. That is a very different system than allowing anyone to cross the border and apply for asylum now.

Yes I was surprised to learn with my kid recently that a lot of people were actually turned away even at Ellis island. Some people think that America just accepted everyone back then and it was not the case. Even after they paid the large amount for their ticket here, they still had to show they could financially support themselves, that they were healthy (there was a huge list of things they looked for) and had high moral character.

+1. An intelligence test was also given.

Wrong again. The screening test at Ellis Island typically took less than a minute and essentially everyone passed and made it through within hours of arriving.

And then those immigrants worked their butts off with no social services net. They didn't receive medical benefits, housing allowances, public transportation, college scholarships, and free public education with special education, ESL services, and free meals for their children. There needs to be a limit.

This is what current immigrants do…

IDGAF what this report says if the school my kid attends daily is overrun with ELL students.

This is the disconnect.

The same HHS that funds ways to provide Medicaid to illegals? Also I wonder the impact when that number is an order of magnitude more than the “refugees and asylees” from 2005-2019. The laws during that period actually made asylum seekers and refugees enter at points of entry and apply. There was no CBPOne app. Again, think what you think, but I hope you’ve pre purchased hours of therapy to assist with your trauma when Trump wins in 17 days.

Please post the link where Bernie sanders said illegal immigrants were taking blue collar jobs from American workers. What any one on the planet earth knows is that it’s very different. +1. Americans will do any job, for the right wage. I know this from experience/seeing the jobs filled 100% by Americans growing up in a small town with a very low illegal alien population. And to the poster(s) demanding that people cite how illegal immigration has impacted them personally - what an inane notion. I don't have to be personally impacted by murder to be against it.

Please tell me how Americans you know from your small town would do any job for the right wage- what were those jobs exactly? And please also explain to me how those 'right wages' affected the ultimate cost of the goods or services being provided? And the effect on whether consumers were then willing to pay for those products and services at that price? I'm waiting...

Any job you can think of, you horrid shrew. Gas station clerks, line cooks, janitors, factory workers, tree trimmers, etc. Everyone I grew up with was a blue collar worker. I don't know how much every single person was getting paid, I just know they weren't getting undercut by illegal alien, under the table labor. Consumers were willing to pay for their labor because -- wait for it -- they didn't have any other choice. You obviously have no idea what it's like to live in small town America.

Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.

I grew up in a town with virtually no illegal immigrants. School kids worked at fast food restaurants or mowed lawns for money. All essential jobs managed to be done. There are still many communities in the US where native workers do these jobs, unlike here in Northern Virginia where illegals have pushed Americans out of jobs like working at fast food restaurants, lawn care and construction work.

Democrats are for open borders. Any party that allows 6+ million illegal immigrants to walk into its borders uninvited and unvetted is for open borders.

Facts are so inconvenient, aren’t they?

Did you actually read the article? It also does not address class sizes and ELL populations at public schools. I live a quarter mile from Arlandria. I know what I see with my own two eyes every. single. day.

Yes, did you? The point is that there is a trend- supported by bigots like you- to blame every social ill on immigrants. And these claims are misleading and/or outright lies

Illegal immigrants invading this country are a scourge. 58% of the country agrees and wants mass deportation. I hope the liberal, progressive bubble you must live in isolates you from us bigots.
