Immigration - how is it such a huge issue in this race?

They admit that Biden went hard left from the start under advice from Latino and migrant interest non profits. What I really can’t stand is the denialism. These people claiming what we see right in front of our face isn’t real. At least admit the truth.

It shows the political IQ of Trump that he didn’t gut Obamacare just to be spiteful on his first day in office. He knew it was popular.

Biden and Kamala wanted to spite Trump rather than do what’s best for the country and what’s popular. They show themselves in the foot and are embarassed to claim the border czar title these days because it was an epic fail. Kamala’s conclusion was migration was growing because of climate change so she spent billions to Latin American corrupt governments to fight “climate change” to stem migration. They laughed but took the money away. Our tax money down the drain..

They not only opened the border On Day 1 as president but they openly traveled to the border to welcome people-something never done before. They were encouraging illegal entry, opening it to drugs, guns, sex trafficking, kidnapping. The FBI just quietly admitted yesterday that crime has gone up. Trump was right yet again.

First of all, Trump tried to gut Obamacare, by making the tax penalty 0. But, he couldn't get rid of it completely because it was too popular; several Rs voted against repealing Obamacare.

However, I do agree that Biden missed an opportunity.

I'm the poster who has repeatedly stated that Biden should've address the border issue the first year in office or there would be h3ll to pay come 2024. The writing was on the wall, and Dems completely ignored it.

I'm livid, sad, resigned to Trump winning in 2024 mainly because of the immigration issue. This election was Dems to lose, and they dropped the ball, bigly.

-Former R who will still vote for Harris because Trump is a danger to our national security.

But they didn’t drop the ball, they fought to allow as many migrants as possible in. They got exactly what they wanted.

That is their agenda - for uncontrolled mass illegal immigration. That’s why they go around Congress to create programs like the CBP One app to allow illegal immigrants to obtain parole at ports of entry or to fly in from foreign countries. They just don’t want bad optics or news coverage of large numbers of people at the border. Their first head of border patrol said their only priorities were to create pathways for migrants to enter the country and to process illegal immigrants into the country faster. That’s all their so-called border bill did - provide money to process and release illegal immigrants into the country faster.

Keep telling us illegal immigration doesn't matter when affordable housing stocks get gobbled up by illegal immigrants who then overwhelm our schools with all the kids they send who need tons and tons of remedial work while barely able being able to speak English.

I've also been personally affected by an undocumented migrant who hit my car, and it was impossible to get his insirance to compensate me because he didn't have any, not had any permanent address. Why do law abiding citizens get screwed with our insurance rates that keep getting jacked up because there are so many illegal migrants driving around everywhere on our roads without insurance? They already broke the law coming in illegally, and have zero qualms about breaking more laws like driving around without insurance.

+100
Illegal immigration is my number one election issue. I will be voting accordingly.

There can be too much of even good things, and there are negative effects when there is too much at once, lack of vetting, and fraud going on. For most voters there is a difference between legal and illegal immigration. The Biden administration has also increased immigration via dubious means such as giving discretionary parole to many hundreds of thousands of people who otherwise would not be able to enter. The whole world is watching it and sees that those who enter, regardless of whether they have a valid claim to be here, get to stay.
The math is no longer as clear about whether it is good for the economy.

Of course we should have many routes of immigration. But we need to focus on giving our humanitarian benefits to the most deserving individuals who are ACTUAL refugees, not people showing up on our doorstep with fake/dubious asylum claims.

Too bad the loser you worship nuked the bill to address all that, huh.

That thing was a bandaid at best.

Exactly. If a Bill does not require elimination of the CBP One app - it is an unserious attempt to address mass immigration.

+1
It also didn’t mandate EVerify, as the original HR-2 bill did.

That bill also made unaccompanied minors exempt from being sent back. We should not be responsible for taking on care and feeding for a generation of foreign national children.

Umm have you ever met any Lebanese people?

Yes, the two I know both participated in anti-Semitic, pro-terrorism rallies on college campuses. And, instead of canceling their student visas, this administration is giving them TPS and work permits.

Them being antisemitic isn’t cool. But that’s not even an issue here.

The ISSUE is that TPS, you know..TEMPORARY protected status… is now a joke. It’s quite literally a joke—pretty sure in the 20 years TPS has been a thing, only Trump has ever EVEN ATTEMPTED to end it.

Even though temporary is in the name.. all these articles coming out about “how horrible it was to end TPS 16 years later after all these peoppe have made a life here and put down roots”.

🤦🤦🤦🤦

It’s only meant to be temporary, and this is also why undocumented people shouldn’t be able to put down any sort of roots at all. Then it becomes a sob story.

I live in a city affected by an RV epidemic and unlike the neighboring cities they didn’t ban them but allowed to stay “temporarily”. Now they can’t pass a ban because some bleeding hearts keep fighting it.
Never let anyone in “temporarily”, they will explode in numbers and overtake the place.

It would just further incentivize people sending their children to dangerously cross the border alone through the desert.

Nobody wants zero immigration. I don’t mind a reasonable number of legal immigrants who can provide for themselves here. I am against mass illegal immigration. Most of the illegal immigrants are indigent and unskilled and become burdens on taxpayers.

And as for why more people aren’t having kids, it’s because it’s hard to afford children in the Biden-Harris inflationary economy. The low birth rate is proof of the bad economy and that people are struggling financially.

Wouldn’t it be great if the money we spent on illegal immigrants could be spent on helping families afford children?

Finances are not the cause of low birth rates.

This is not accurate

You realize the PP is talking about ILLEGAL immigrants, not legal immigrants, right? The statement likely is not true with respect to legal immigrants. I am sure it is true regarding illegal economic migrants (look no further than the millions of dollars of resources being hoovered up by illegal aliens in New York). Either way, it's hard to disprove, to the extent they're "undocumented."

I hadn't been to Walmart sterling in a while. It looked like I entered a Walmart in Venezuela. People are driving like crazy in this area. no stopping on red or stop signs. This area has descended into utter chaos. We are legal immigrants and now US citizens. Yes this is the most important issue for us. We did everything right.

Blame that on Biden, Trump and a few others POTUS administrations that failed to tackle immigration and border security reform measures when they were most needed. Fortunately for Harris, she is the only major party candidate in this race with no history of being a POTUS that has already failed this issue.

DP. What an utterly disgraceful attempt to act like Biden's actions didn't DIRECTLY contribute to the major influx in illegal immigration during his administration. Everything he did - from announcing how "welcoming" he would be to migrants, to reversing all of Trump's border EOs on Day 1 - created the unprecedented border crisis under his watch. And Harris was right along for the ride, gaslighting everyone that the border was "secure," so nice try pretending she has no culpability here.
