Immigration - how is it such a huge issue in this race?

I live outside Chicago. I went shopping in Oak Park last week and the parking lot was full of young men in brand new ski jackets harassing women and begging for money. They had cardboard signs that said "Just arrived from Venezuela - Need Money" One of them was selling Gatorade.
I thought they were here to do "the jobs Americans won't do"? Why are dozens of 20 something able bodied men sitting around begging? Why are well-meaning ladies' clubs raising money and organizing to feed and shelter these men?
This is an upscale area and now we have to run a gauntlet of begging and catcalling before entering a store. I guess we should just order everything from Amazon and stay at home so we don't see this problem with our own eyes.

Actually there was an agenda for dealing with it- the Bipartisan Bill. Would have been the most significant reform in 50 years and would have solved many problems including many that the House bill wouldnt.

But Republicans killed that Bipartisan bill, lied about it, falsely claimed it was a bad bill, and completely flooded the zone with hysteria about hordes of gangs eating cats and dogs, murdering and raping and taking over entire towns.

But wait! You completely left out this part: Biden reversed all of Trump's border protocols as soon as he took office. The world then watched as the U.S. experienced horrific, unprecedented, historic illegal immigration. For 3 1/2 years, Biden insisted there was simply "nothing" he could do. But then, an election year rolled around, and he magically decided he COULD do something! So, he signed his own border EO and almost immediately, the numbers went down.

The bipartisan bill wouldn't have even been necessary had Joe Biden signed that EO on his first day in office. But he didn't. And the rest is his part of his shameful legacy.

Spending 3.5 years opening the borders and then trying to put lipstick on that pig in the 11th hour doesn't deserve consideration.
Let's see what the democrats are willing to agree to when it's about the country and not political expediance.

You can't work without a social security number. It takes 6 months to get the social security number through ICE.
