In a nutshell, the immigrants that used to disappear into Texas or Manassas or Hyattsville are now showing up in Montgomery, and Fairfax and NYC and causing Democrats to freak out. Immigration wasn't a problem for them as long as they went "somewhere else." |
I lived in MoCo from 2012 - 2021. This isn't new and didn't happen only under Biden. Yes we have a problem but I haven't seen much of solution from anyone. |
School districts are spending so much money on ELL and ESL programs, translation services. All that spending could have been done to enrich our kids learning, this is a small example. I went to the emergency a few weeks back, all 4 people in front of me did not speak a lick of English, didn’t have any legal status or insurance, translator had to be called in and god knows who’s gonna pay for the healthcare. I am not begrudging anyone lifesaving medical care, but the harsh truth is it’s got be at the expense of someone else because time and money are finite resources. |
how do you know the people in front of you didn't have insurance/legal status - were you listening in? anecdotes are fine but it doesn't give the full picture. |
Number one... you don't understand labor markets. There is only the amount of labor available; there is no shortage or surplus, no right amount. Businesses and markets adjust accordingly to the appropriate mix of capital and labor. The labor shortage lines are BS from uncompetitive businesses and organizations that want to undercut their employees. |
When public schools have to cut specials like art and music to fund teaching illegal immigrant children English, it puts US citizens in second place treatment. |
I mean our schools aren't doing this. I'm not saying you're wrong - but which school? |
That’s bullshit though. They cut art and music because they want to and they can because the state doesn’t require art and music. Every local government and every school district has learned they can blame immigrants for everything and the anti-immigrant loudmouths will accept it and amplify it without questioning whether it is true. |
Check Loudoun library website and see what percentage of programs are ESOL. |
Wow, OP. Out of touch a tad?
Every state is a border state. Every city is a border city. All thanks to Kamala and Joe. You simply have not been paying attention. |
What you are missing is legal vs illegal immigration. It’s a big deal. Legal immigration, we get people from other countries before they are allowed to come her. We need more doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers. We need many legal immigrants. What we don’t need is 10 million migrants or illegal immigrants here claiming asylum. Most of these migrants don’t qualify and economic asylum is not a thing. If they were persecuted in their original country, once they left and hit places like Mexico, they are no longer in danger from the original claim. And how many of these do we need to work in Fields picking produce. We have tens of thousands living in the cites doing nothing. Many are not educated and can barely speak or read Spanish. Where are they all to live as we also have a housing shortage? So we need more legal immigrants and less migrants. |
It's funny to see that now, three weeks before Election Day, the Light Bulb finally turns on.
I will never vote for Trump, but for years I have been asking why Democrats seemed content to let Trump/MAGA exploit this as a lucrative wedge issue for over a decade. Without it, Trump would have never been elected. |
I don't think it is an immigration issue. The issue is that for whatever reason millions of ILLEGAL immigrants came over the border in the past 5-10 years. I am voting for Harris btw. I think dems need to address this issue better. |
I've been paying attention and immigration is not one of my top concerns. It's a huge issue in the race because Trump and his team know it's divisive and have therefore villainized immigrants and his base loves it.

+1 And to the OP - the issue is ILLEGAL immigration. ![]() |
