There's a difference between being a SAHP and buying into this tradwife stuff. My mom was a SAHM for periods when we were young but my Dad didn't treat her like she was subservient, they made decisions collaboratively and my Dad didn't foist all housework and childcare on her. |
No, I think it's mostly caused by the fact that despite so much talk of equality there is a lot of strain on women in the workplace, so many places still do not offer paternity leave or frown upon it, childcare is too expensive, public and free schooling in the US starts too late...Conditions are rampant for women to have a terrible work experience AND still be care givers. So many opt out. Part of why the system isn't getting fixed might be toxic masculinity, but it's also women making choices because of it: they simply opt out. |
Actually, the whole trad-wife thing isn’t actually a real thing (seriously you need a break from the internet if you’re outraged by this), and SAHMs are perfectly functional, respectable members of society and always have been. |
It’s a ridiculous myth. |
This. Imagine the reverse "Toxic Femininity". That would cause all sorts of reeee. |

And your point is what? |
| Disavow those “reviving Ophelia” and presenting other falsehoods. |
?? NP. What does this even mean? Are young women admiring him in the way women of my mother’s generation viewed men like Che Guevara as some type of “exciting bad-boy” or charismatic rebel? |
OK- but be honest: there probably was some level of power-imbalance, correct? I don’t see how the whole SAHM/ tradwife thing plays out without a power imbalance. |
Is your husband the only man you know? If yes, that’s an example of toxic masculinity. Not allowing your spouse to interact with other men is very toxic. |
NP. To me he’s Toxic Masculinity since he thinks he’s single-handedly helping all the dumb people see the light and save them all. He’s also toxic masculinity bc he had no coping skills after being a laid off digital nomad who instead of getting grounded with IRL in-person friends or family, self radicalized into his current Jesus complex state. That or he has a brain tumor. |
to me he is showing his toxic masculinity because he got a gun, which is almost invariably a sign of mental compensation for an inadequately small p*nis. |
|
His self righteous written accolades of himself turn me off. I’m an engineer so blah blah, I’m a one bag traveler so blah blah, I think you should edit your book so blah blah, I’m a genius so am traveling.
I know toxic males like that and it’s not cute. |
So, what you’re saying is, if you have a gun, you have a small p*nis? I guess all male police officers have a small p*nis… |
