It’s something Libs cooked up to explain why they are unhappy losers.

Proud women who identify as liberal or progressive want nothing to do with these awful masculine-toxic males. That makes them the losers!

Yeah, not so sure about that.

DP.

Why not?

No it isn't. Toxic Masculinity is not respecting females and treating both men and women poorly for your own one upmanship. Going against the golden rule in a way that treats people with disrespect and harm. A harsher version of narcissism where you act out the belief that you can do whatever your animalistic impulse tells you to. Obviously toxic femininity is also a thing where women don't respect other women and men but it has little to do with women being homemakers or whatever you define as the quintessential female profession.

We only need Alpha males to manage other Alpha males.

Overly aggressive behavior like physical or verbal intimidation when the situation does not call for it, being a jerk because you can, entitled behavior regarding sex, attention, money, affection, manipulation of someone’s emotions, violence in the form of hitting, pushing, shoving, throwing things, damaging property etc., crying or threatening to harm oneself to get one’s way.

As you can see I don’t believe in toxic male behavior, I believe in toxic behaviors. Being strong, assertive, aggressive in certain situations like sports/business, not being a pushover, and showing mental toughness are great traits for all genders.

Oh please! You cannot seriously believe that toxic masculinity is not pervasive amongst groups such as the Navy Seals.

I grew up in a military family, was in Army JROTC in high school and considered joining ROTC in college but ultimately deferred. I was concerned about being put someplace in terms of job track that I didn’t want to be, but also this was not long after Tail Hook and I was apprehensive about sexual harassment and rape. Given what we now know about the rates of rape of female military personnel I am grateful for the choice I made - but regretful that a military career wasn’t an option for me over concerns for my bodily autonomy and the very high potential of suffering traumatizing violent transgressions to my body by coworkers and supervisors.

Toxic masculinity is still rampant in our military and that is shameful and weakens us as a nation.

I think we should enter all alpha males in the space race and shoot them off into outerspace. They can only come back with a discovery good for humankind.

I feel like every headline today just points out more and more toxic masculinity taking root in our country each day.

What has there been this recent flood of of hyper-toxic, threads on DCUM around masculinity?

I mean: strongest male names? Or Threads about young men trying to claim being alphas or something??

I feel like this was getting better for a while, but recently got worse. Most recent hit was the elimination of diversity promotions panels in the military.

This popped up in my YouTube feed today and I immediately thought of this toxic masculinity thread.

This gentleman was the tip of the spear, a U.S. Military formed and funded apex predator. If you were sitting next to him in a cafe would you have any idea? Would your gut reaction jump right to toxic masculinity?

I am 50 years old and I have never come across this. Can you give us a specific example?

I like Bernie but I can recognize that some of his supporters have a misogynist streak. I don't think Bernie does, but many of the "Bernie bros" in 2016 were reacting to the prospect of voting for Hillary Clinton (who, while not as progressive or leftist as Bernie, would have been among the most progressive presidents in history) and even if they could not admit it to themselves, were looking for any alternative to a woman. Not unlike the previously Democratic and moderate men who voted for Trump in 2024, despite never having done so before, because while of course they don't have a problem with a woman in power, Kamala Harris just wasn't good enough.

There is a A LOT of misogyny on the left. Among women too. As a culture we really struggle with the idea that women can be leaders, especially in certain roles (commander in chief of the armed forces among them).
