The bar for asylum already is high. 80% plus of people presenting themselves looking for asylum don't meet the criteria. But the problem is, our infrastructure for making those determinations has been completely overwhelmed and saturated, and we're stuck with broken laws that don't let us immediately turn asylum seekers around and send them home. Nor do we have any funding for anyplace to put them. Nor do we make it possible for them to work and support themselves while their cases are being adjudicated. The Republicans have done NOTHING to fix the infrastructure problem. Have done NOTHING to fix the broken laws. Have done NOTHING about somewhere to put them given they haven't fixed the laws to allow us to send them away without their cases being heard and adjudicated, and given the rest of the broken system, that's a multi-year backlog. Have done NOTHING to make it so they can support themselves while awaiting adjudication. |
This crisis is NOT the fault of Republicans. Somehow, both Obama and Trump managed the border much more effectively than Biden. This is a crisis made by Biden. He essentially invited migrants to "surge the border." They did exactly what he asked for. He overturned any and all policies that were in place that were working. This is a problem of HIS making. To claim otherwise is pure ignorance. Or, denial. |
He asked for an extension of the emergency COVID policies but it wasn't granted... What the hell are you talking about that you ask people to surge. I think you have been listening to newsmax a bit too much |
The courts did not end Title 42. Biden did. "Citing a diminished public health risk, in April 2022 the US Centers for Disease Control, which oversees US health policy, signalled it would end the policy." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65477653# "The high court’s move comes as a lawyer for the Biden administration filed a brief in the case last week saying the case would be moot because the federal government planned to end on May 11 the COVID-19 national and public health order, which had allowed the government to invoke Title 42." https://www.texastribune.org/2023/02/16/title-42-supreme-court/ And, the surge....... |
The video says it all. SO INCONVENIENT. |
Dp- Here let me help you out. Social media wasn’t as prevalent during the previous administrations. It wasn’t as pervasive and ubiquitous, especially in the third world. Smart phones became more prevalent in developing countries around 2018. This crisis isn’t because of Biden. It’s because technology makes it easy for cartels to communicate and move people. The explosion of human traffic correlates with access of tech and the ramp up from cartels to get their new business up and running. |
And, there is Biden's rhetoric and his lack of enforcement. He basically sent out a bat signal for all to come. And, they have. From around the world. Yes, social media helps. These migrants send selfies of themselves successfully in the US back to their friends and relatives...... "See, Joe let us in!" and more come. Biden has caused this crisis. There is no question about that. |
Biden didn’t invite anyone. But sure our own media blows stupid, off handed statements, out of proportion. Ok fine. Cartels don’t need him to say anything. They’ll edit a clip and it will say whatever they need people to hear. And people will come because they want to come. Trump isn’t going to change that. Why? Because this was happening no matter who was in charge. It will keep happening and keep getting worse until we : 1) fix the immigration system ( get people processed and turned right back around) 2) regulate social media 3) get serious about climate change 4) push back hard on global authoritarianism |
