Bill and Melinda Gates Announce Divorce After 27 Years

Anonymous
Almost everyone I know who's gotten a divorce has done so around 20 years into marriage, whether they have kids or not. My dh and I joked that we had a hard time finding 20th anniversary cards because Hallmark had such lousy demand they didn't bother to make many.

It's a hard time of life, and if people make it to the 30th, they tend to stick it out.

Since it’s not about her I don’t know why we would

They spend time together. Doesn’t mean they’re sleeping together.

She started banging her CEO. I guarantee she's just jealous of Jobs' widow and Bezos's ex, how they are blowing their husbands' billions, and she craves those same sort of PR puff pieces.

...or these high-powered divorces are just some scheme for the couples to dump tens of billions in stock and avoid Biden's tax raises.

I agree. It happened during the Enron debacle:
"Regarded by colleagues as prickly, Mr. Pai (pronounced "pie") was also known for running up large bills on the company expense account at strip clubs. His affair with an exotic dancer ended his marriage in 1999, and he sold most of his Enron shares to settle the divorce. Mr. Pai's take, more than $271 million, is the largest of any former Enron employee and has made him the target of several shareholder lawsuits."

Just reported today that Bill transferred $1.8 billion in stocks to Melinda on date of divorce announcement. Is that the type of money transfer that would avoid taxes, even though they are still married? Please explain it to me like I'm in Kindergarten.

s/o but Melinda's daisy mesh overlay dress is awful:

I realize it's probably couture but it looks like some jessica mcclintock or delia's dress (yes I'm old but at least I know not to wear that) for homecoming.

I agree this is petty. At least it's got coverage, not like those oscar dresses that need double sided tape.

Actually, it’s years 7 and 8 that are most common for divorces.

Sure.

We have heard is a workaholic and had trouble spending time with family.

But he can spend numerous days a year with a woman not his wife, doing things like playing putt putt for hours?

THere was clearly another woman in this marriage.

He will spend more time with his elderly ex.

She will have a boyfriend. If she’s smart, she won’t remarry.

Curious how the kids will turn out. The younger daughter is attractive.

You know, plain and ugly women turn out well and have good lives too. Every day, in fact.

?

Two of the kids look like Dad. The third doesn’t. She’s attractive. I’m curious how all 3 turn out. They’ve been raised with everything. But their parents seem to be unusual. Dad vacationed each year with his ex? Dad met with Epstein multiple times. Mom went on numerous talk shows quietly complaining about not getting enough attention from her husband.

I’m wondering if he’s asexual or gay.

Or part frog.

Melinda looks like a man (hint).
Also, she's just plain ugly for either gender.

I thought this was mean...and then I looked at pictures. It’s objectively true, and more pronounced as she gets older. Like, if she told you she had transitioned from being Michael, you would believe it.

The kids aren’t bad looking, though.

Right.

But even if they weren’t, he’s having a marriage-long emotional affair with this woman. Some would say that’s worse than a fling.

Winblad is 70 now. So every year for the past 30 something yrs Melinda said ok to the yearly hookup arrangement. Their retreat was his ex gfs beach house? Would any married woman whose mono agree to that?
