You really think your freshman son hasn’t seen porn?!? |
I only have girls (14, 16) and I purchase condoms and leave them in the bathroom under the counter. They should always have 2 on them. Give them to friends too. It shouldn’t be just the guy’s responsibility. They also carry Narcan. Does that mean I am ok with them being around drugs? |
I mean, yes, it does. What do you think it means? |
+1 |
I think you are nuts, to be honest. Your kids probably agree |
You're crazy. I've shown my goody-two-shoes kids how to administer Narcan if they should ever be in that position as well as telling them how to do CPR and use a defibrillator. It's that kind of world now. |
I get the feeling some of the permissve parents on this thread are even encouraging their teens to do it because they live vicariously through them. I had a friend with a mom like that. My friend was 16 and didnt have a boyfriend yet, and her mom was just constantly on her case about getting a boyfriend! Like it's some milestone you have to achieve or else your failed. I felt so bad for her. And then in college I heard my friend came out as a lesbian. Her mom was just a clueless pervert.
Point of this rambling story is, if you're one of these moms stuffing your kid's bag with condoms without any signs or hints that your kid is sexually active, you need to analyze your own motivations honestly, not hide behind virtue signalling safe sex. |
Do you have nicotine patches in case they get hooked on cigarettes or tobacco vapes and need them? Do you have suboxone just in case they become addicted to opioids? If yes, then your logic with condoms and Narcan is consistent. If not, ask yourself why you’re stocking condoms and Narcan, even though you insist you’re not encouraging adolescent sex and drug use, just in case but not those other items, just in case. |
Because we don’t want a dead kid or to be an early grandma. The reason seems very obvious. |
You don't get the situation out there. I don't have too much experience with the condom issue but it is irresponsible for you to pontify about Narcan. Sounds like you are one of those 60 year olds who like to post on this forum or a mom of a little kid, you seem so out of touch. |
How uneducated are you? Condoms and Narcan are used preventively and needed is spur of the moment situations. Plenty of teen deaths related to fentanyl laced drugs, even in plain weed. Narcan is sold over the counter at all drug stores, is at all middle and high school and all educators know how to administer. We have Narcan in our own house. No one here uses drugs, but god forbid someone tries something in our home unknown to us, I want them protected. My kids also know CPR and we have a life vac device and they know how to use that too. And we show them how to use our kitchen fire extinguisher I am so sick of head in the sand parents thinking their teens will never do wrong. Never make a mistake and will never need condoms, narcan etc… Remember the Dateline episode where only 1 out of 12 kids tested did not get into a car of someone under the influence? These were all honor roll students whose parents all swore they wouldn’t get in the car and would call them instead. What about to catch a predator? How about the teen that OD’d last week in Arlington. The drunk driving accident in Urbana. Teens do impulsive stupid things sometimes. Better be prepared. |
It means they realize fentanyl is laced in everything and someone could be given one pill or a few puffs of weed and literally collapse and die. This isn’t the 80’s sweetie |
You can get narcan free at any pharmacy. You’re actually encouraged to get it and have it on hand. All people, not just drug addicts. If it makes you feel superior to scoff at the idea of not having a lifesaving medication on hand, have at it. |
Happy to be called a virtue signaller if my condoms prevent my kids (or my kids friends) from getting pregnant, or if my Narcan saves a life. Just FYI you’re whole “I would NEVER supply condoms to a teenager!” is also virtue signaling. |
So basically you’re inconsistent and contradictory with your logic and you don’t like being called out on it. That’s unfortunate. |
