What is the earliest age you would buy condoms for your son?

That’s the litmus test. If you’re too immature to buy the condoms, you’re too immature to have sex.

I personally think it's okay if you buy a kid condoms and they become extremely expensive balloons, because getting some familiarity with the product is better before they actually need it.

Lots of middle schoolers having sex

Absolutely a yes to condoms.

But it’s 2025 and there is, unfortunately, even more to consider and plan around now. It’s complicated.

This generation is far more fluid. What I mean is they are far more likely to fall within the panoply of LGTBQIA+. Each kid is an individual with individual identities, personalities, groups, needs, etc Like I said, complicated.

If your child is biologically male, and there’s a possibility of s*x with other biological male(s), please do parental due diligence and discuss having him on PrEP, as a precaution. Even with condom use, boys break condoms sometimes. And PrEP is a real must-have if unprotected anal sex were to happen.

While broaching PrEP, please also have teens get the free monkeypox vaccine. DC is an epicenter for it, but we can fight that with vaccination.

Not the pp but the fact that you think it’s only “down south” and not right here is sad. It’s happening. Not a majority but I would say 10-20% by the end of 8th grade. They aren’t relationships. They are social media sexting and then hook-ups.

As a teacher and wife of a police officer in juvenile special victims, he has cases of nudes being sent in 5th grade.

Don’t turn a blind eye. It’s there and even if they aren’t doing it, they know people that are and trying to normalize it.

But if you are planning on it, then the bathroom idea that PP had sounds like a good one. I guess DH and I will have to have this discussion.

Thank you. This.
I mean damn!—you still wipe their behinds too???
I get having “the talk” but no. Your kid is old enough to figure out how to undress and do the deed, then he’s old enough to purchase his own protection. Super weird to supply condoms for someone else’s sex acts, imo.

Q: what do you call mom and dad who refuse to buy condoms for their kid?

A: grandma and grandpa!

This is why I disagree with the parents on here who encourage and support serious long term committed relationships in their 12, 13, 14 year olds and think is it so normal and wonderful.

Snapchat is perfectly designed to conceal children sexting nudes. Know another name for it? Child pornography, and it is a felony. It happens daily in FCPS and MCPS.

Don’t give kids SnapChat. But we are getting off topic:

- responsible parents protect their children and provide teens with condoms. No questions asked.

It's crazy how kids can become life long felons now, for sexting nudes to each other. Too many laws out there, and most are completely asinine.
