So wait. Everything everywhere else says one hit. But yesterday the official statement says 2. Which was it

It sounds as though the details of what happened are not quite as described by the initial police report. Maybe this attack was more impulsive then it first appeared That doesn't mean that I would feel safe going to a Maryland fair - I would NOT. But at least this wasn't the total set up that it first appeared to be. The girl videotaping it didn't catch the first blow to his head which means she pulled out the camera after the attack started to happen.

It's still sickening. The man is still dead and a family has now lost their husband/father. But it doesn't appear that the entire group was "in on it" from the get go.

You mean like the group of youths who attacked the man at the hotel in Washington. A few did the deed and the others were the back up singers?

The two boys who attacked the man were brothers. They asked him for a dollar he said no and words were exchanged. One of the brothers punched the man in the back of the head. The second brother delivered the fatal blow that is being shown in the video.

When will DC start to crack down on teens behaving this way? I know this happened in Maryland but there were several reports of these vicious gang attacks happening over the summer in DC. This video of these two men being attacked in DC is scary.

There's often a group of AA youth hanging along the walk next to the busy tourist drag, about a block away from the police station. There is something obviously wrong with them. Sometimes there are adults with them, or a group of troubled adults will be hanging there. I'll cross one of the bridges, to the other side of the walk, rather than pass them. Often there's a cop not too far away from them. One time one of the teenaged boys called out to me trying to engage with me, and when I looked over he had tampons stuffed into his nose cavities. I don't know Frederick that well, but well enough to know strange public behavior like this is uncommon aside from this group. I would guess maybe the kids at the fair were part of this group of youth? It sounds like them. It is about a mile to the Fairgrounds from this location.

This is now what is running that town it sounds like. Nothing anyone can do about it.

Well PP didn’t report anything. If no one says anything to police than of course nothing is going to be done.

You can report things privately without being a Becky or Karen.

It's interesting that a couple of posts about how people might not want to alert the officer about this behavior because they might become a viral internet "sensation" were deleted while a thread about the "Becky" meme of white women calling the police on innocent black people is going strong.

I didn't see those posts, but this seems like a distraction from the actual issue. If you see anyone you think is committing a crime, just walk away and call 911. If you don't engage/confront them, then you won't be a "Becky" meme. But if you want to make a big show of confronting them -- then yeah, you may be recorded.

FYI, punching in the back of the head can be deadly. For whoever was trying to claim that the fact that MMA fighters never die from a single punch is somehow relevant here -- rabbit punches are illegal in MMA/UFC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_punch

Also of course, punching in the back of the head means that they ambushed him and were not responding to a physical attack defensively.

I absolutely won’t be reporting anything ever.
I’ve seen what happens to people who report.
Snitches get stitches from the view mob.
No thanks.

The kids were just being obnoxious and intimidating. Asking someone to give you a dollar is not a crime. What exactly was that poster supposed to report? What exactly was security supposed to do even if they got that report.

Yeah, it used to be that if a group of teens was acting wild and disrespectful they could be asked to leave BEFORE something bad happened. Those days are long gone, at least in Frederick.

Wow! You read the news like the rest of us! Did you not see that that has been stated over and OVER? We don't need or want to hear your voice. Go away

Yes and this is assault and now it’s murder because he died and they should all go to jail. There should be no leniency for this kind of behavior. Someone died.

Huh? You can absolutely be asked to leave a venue for being "obnoxious and intimidating." Or the police/guards can just walk along with them until they chose to leave on their own.

O.k. and the kids can in turn video tape the guards following them and post that all over the internet - harassment. Kids like that know how to get away with murder...quite literally.

Ugh I saw the boys' names last night and now I can't find them again.
