Solidcore pricing

Also, OP, you shouldn’t get your name called out based on skill. Those struggling need it just as much. You acknowledged it was petty to look over and think you are kicking butt, but that vibe does bleed into the class on occasion. It’s the one that annoys me.

If someone students want to act like groupies, I find it odd but not really bothersome, as long as the instruction corrects me/calls my name. I’d say the instructor should call out for everyone, but the truth it, I can’t keep track of something like that in class.

I think you misunderstood me: I was being petty about wanting praise from the teacher for (IMO) doing well, not because I thought I was better than someone. I'm the first person to encourage a new client or give a high five or ask how someone's doing, particularly when I haven't seen them in a while.

And the bigger issue isn't really how clients act, it's how the coaches respond to certain behaviors. I don't care if people act like groupies, but I do care if a coach rewards that behavior. I don't expect every class to have an exactly equal amount of praise for everyone, because that's virtually impossible to track, but I do expect the coaches to be professional during class. As I said, I consider some of the coaches friends, but I've never, ever felt like they give me special treatment for that during class, nor would I want them to. We're all in it together, as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, if that's what you meant - I was responding to this, which reads differently: I have been coach's pet at times, but also been in the position of seeing them suck up to a regular, and then I look over and think, I am kicking her/his a$$! Perhaps not the most charitable thought.

I'm set through the month but back to debating with myself how much I want to continue solidcore past that point. I feel like I can get a good arms and legs workout on my own, core, not so much. Would love any suggestions!

I have classes to get through most of the summer, but then I plan to return to the plain-old gym.

I just found this thread--I'm a longtime (400+ classes) solidcore client and monthly member. I've been upset about the monthly membership price increase since it was announced, and like PPs, I got a lot of sympathy from coaches but haven't been able to solicit a response from Corporate.

Now that the end of 2018 is only 5 months away, I want to figure out some way to raise this issue and actually get heard. Long-term, regular members don't get anything special and we are paying a TON. There are no showers, we still only have the short cancellation window...how about opening up the schedule for monthly members a day earlier? How about advanced-only classes (other than the occasional [supersolid] where you can only attend if you've taken 50 or 100 classes? There are a lot of us out there now and it would make for a better member experience.

Anne M. is approachable in person. Maybe a few people sit down with her?

Hi, PP! I like the idea of sitting down with Anne M., although TBH am not sure how into the running of the company she is. She seems more big-picture/visionary than daily operations. But that said, hopefully she could effect some changes if she buys into them.

And, I agree that it would be nice to have some advantages of being such a dedicated client. I just hit 200 classes recently, and while I'm proud of that, there is this feeling that, really, it's about money for the company. We don't even get anything alone the lines of the [100 club] water bottle! (kidding, sort of) I don't really think Corporate cares, as long as they still have customers. My strategy thus far has been to limit classes to only my favorite coaches to get my money's worth, but they won't be around forever.

All that said, I'm totally on board if you and/or others want to try to find a direct way to give this feedback. There's a tension there between the brand being all about community and then charging the most dedicated members of said community an arm and a leg, and in how they buried the monthly unlimited price hike in that disastrous messaging.

I'm a 100+ classes member, and I like the idea of trying to get more perks. I wouldn't support excluding some clients from some classes, though. The supersolids that I have attended have generally not been full. They are full the day before, and tons of people cancel at the last minute.

I didn't even get a water bottle b/c I hit 100 before that perk was introduced!

Good point about exclusion with the advanced classes...but I think it would be easier for the instructors if there was some mandate that clients take a beginner class just to learn the moves before moving into the regular classes. I totally get why [solidcore] went to Class Pass, but I've noticed this summer that almost every class has new clients and instructors have to take a lot of time with a few people. Happy to have more people in the sc fold but as we all know, it takes awhile to get up to speed!

Oh no! They should totally give you a water bottle.

The super[solid]s I have taken have been full and waitlisted. So while people drop, there are usually enough on the waitlist to make a full class of people who really, really want to be there. And I have had people come to, say, Arms and Abs with one of the toughest instructors for their first class, either because they don't know any better or because they think they're fit and it will be fine. I want to welcome new people, but it does change the experience when an advanced class has new people in it. If they end up next to me, I try to be a good role model for working hard and moving slowly, etc.

My strategy for keeping classes tough is take at 6am, and especially with said tough coach. The 6am crews tend to be pretty hard core, although I realize that time slot doesn't work for everyone.

Maybe--although I have never taken at CC! I am a BSDA/WW girl

But if you ever pop up in those parts, we may well know each other!

I started at WW actually! Then changed jobs. But yes, I'm in Bethesda some too.

+1000. I actually wrote an email to corporate when the pricing first came out suggesting a lot of things that would make the price increase a bit more palatable (and suggesting alternatives). I head nothing. I mentioned it 2x to the studio manager and was told to resend the email 2x. The manager has been surprised that no one seems to be getting any response. Even a response like, "we hear you" or "message received" would be nice. I'm not sure whether Anne M can help now that PE is running some of the show, but I am 100% with you. Just today I was getting frustrated being in a great class, but with towels that shed everywhere and are sometimes dirty (not a big thing, but other places have nicer towels at a lower price point) and machines that are always "sort of" in need of repair--I was thinking to myself--"I'm going to pay MORE for this in 2019?!". I probably will still pay because the workout is great, but I'm planning to be even more vocal when I take a class that is sub-par or get on a machine that is broken (and has been broken for a while, but they still allow the class to fully book up). Still holding out hope for some changes!

I just tried out a couple of classes. The workout is fine (though the loud music and instructor using an equally loud mic is annoying) but for the price of theses classes it’s insane that there are no showers or lockers that actually lock.

Ah-I think I do know you! And if you’re who I am thinking of, you are strong AF and I love it when you’re in class. I like having my butt kicked!

Maybe they are holding out to see what unlimited folks do when the current prices expire and go up?

I think this workout is one where if you love it as much as some of us do, it’s hard to give up entirely. I haven’t been this nuts for a workout since I was rowing competitively and this is much more feasible with a FT job and three kids. The pricing, not so much.

But I can reach out to some of my coaches and ask if they think Anne would be open to feedback. I will report back.

Thanks, I guess that gives me 2.5 more months to come up with an alternative.

For anyone curious, I was just automatically charged for month 4 at $199/ month. Interesting bc I was on my way to quitting too,
