DC Public and Public Charter Schools
If you know these teens are from St Johns then call St Johns and complain. Catholic schools are actually pretty concnered when the kids act like assholes outside of the school becuase its bad for the reputation. |
This seems balanced and compelling. |
Since when is behavior like jumping on cars, shoving pedestrians, shoplifting, spitting, and hurling obscene (and sometimes racial) invective at passerby just "acting like teenagers"? Perhaps in some urban dystopia, but should that really be the low bar for Tenleytown? |
I noticed all the white people who claim that race is "not a part of this" skirted this question. Because it is clear that race is CLEARLY playing a role. But you can keep acting like you're "concerned" when we know the real issue. You're disgusting. |
I addressed it directly. I don't know or care whether they're in bounds or not. I don't care what their race is. Now you answer my questions: Why are you so focused on their race? Why do you excuse the bad behavior? |
I'm not excusing their bad behavior- I just think you're exaggerating. You may now be saying you don't care if they're OOB or not (because someone called you out) but earlier nearly every post suggested returning them to their inbounds. Because of course only "good kids" live inbounds. You want to eat your hate chicken and Panera in peace- I get that. But you chose to live in a neighborhood with a high school- a desirable school to many. The positive is that your home values are high because of the good school, but you don't want the downside which is teenagers acting like teenagers. I've been there and not seen anything like you're describing. You're a racist- own it! |
It's not teenagers acting like teens. It's a relatively small number of highly disruptive youth acting thuggish. |
+1. Perhaps previous PP is a bit confused? Acting thuggish is not a race, my friend. |

I was in Tenley town yesterday and it was a quiet and peaceful oasis.
No kidding. There were only a few kids milling around outside Panera. Otherwise the strip was practically deserted. Either the chaos only lasts 30 min or so or Wilson HS has cracked down. After this thread along with the Cleveland Park list serve comments, I got off the Metro at Tenleytown pretty apprehensive. Barely a high schooler or middle schooler in sight. Where did they all go? |
| I forgot to add to my previous post that I got off the Tenleytown metro at 4 pm. |
Well said and agreed - the folks in this thread (though I suspect it is one person) who keep insisting it is not about race then make a bunch of insinuations that suggest it is about nothing but race as if going after OOB kids isn't code for AA kids. How many of the folks who keep making that point are aware that the group MPD suspects of dealing Heroin in the neighborhood for the last 5 years (and allegedly at a bunch of other mostly affluent local high schools) is a group of white kids from AU Park who ride around the neighborhood on skateboards? This is a silly thread at this point - I walk through TT twice a day taking my kids to Janney at the same time all the Wilson kids are all out and about and very rarely see the behavior that so many others seem to see (or more likely imagine) every day. We even go into Chic-fil-a for an occassional after school treat of a lemonade or ice cream and I've never had any issues with the Wilson kids who crowd the restaurant at the same time we are there. I even remember the person who made the rock throwing allegation last spring because I was in TT that day on the exact corner at the exact time this supposed long duration incident happened and saw no such thing. As a parent with young kids I'm far far more concerned about all of the aggressive driving I see every day from MD commuters and was almost hit the other day crossing the exit from the CVS parking lot by an obnoxious woman from MD in a white SUV with an NPS sticker on the back who was on her phone (with kids in the back!) and who didn't want to yield to us and accelerated to beat us to the driveway even though we were half way across. |

BTW, mendacious means "lying." People have complained about a lot of alleged student misbehavior here, but nobody said anything about lying. I don't object to $6 words -- unless the person uttering them doesn't know what they mean.
Are you the same poster who thinks Hillary is concealing her Parkinson's diagnosis?
|
On other threads I'd call remarks like this the work of a troll, but on this thread, it just appears to be someone baring their soul. Yuck.
|
Wait, there are kids dealing heroin in the neighborhood??
|
It happened. It was three children. One was carrying a long poster. They also stood in the middle of the street blocking traffic and calling out to confused and faltering drivers, "what are you going to do? Knock me over? Yeah, I thought so!"..I cant remember what time it was now, but do know that with after school classes different streams of children release at different times. Spring seems particularly congested as the weather gets nice. If it is quieter these days, awesome.thats a good thing but doesn't prove an point you're trying to make. Nor does claiming you didn't see rock throwing so it couldn't have happened. How absurd. I haven't posted here in weeks but find your efforts to conflate everyone's witnesings and responses sort of irresponsible. |
