Friday's "snow?"

Exactly why Taylor will call in a early release.

As usual, the high school teachers get screwed. Roads are covered. Nothing is treated. It’s dangerous.
BS that safety is how mcps makes their decisions.

Agreed

I don’t ever want to see one of Taylor’s stupid videos again.

You're going to be waiting a while.

It's now clear, though, why teachers always expect delays or closures. They think they should be entitled to them wherever conditions could lengthen their commute. Full speed or bust!

Delay for rain and open on time for falling snow? Already an inch here

Wow, an entire inch.

Not all of us live on flat, plowed roads!! An inch of slippery snow could mean lots of accidents. Some of us live in rural areas, and are commuting from far away. I am keeping my kid home as I work from home and it is possible.

The rural areas aren't going to get an inch of snow.

The side roads that weren't treated have relatively little traffic. People won't get into accidents. Especially not anyone with common sense.

Are you serious? People can't even drive in the rain. We're upcounty where there is an inch of snow on the ground and it is currently snowing. My kids bus was 15 minutes late today. A 2 hour delay would have been the right call for today, maybe even no school today. Ridiculous.

Come on, now. We all know other parts of the country would stay open in these conditions. You can drive on roads with a dusting of snow.

I'm upcounty- southwest of Germantown- and there's nowhere near an inch of snow on the ground. Where are you?

Are you going to say we need to close schools for rai. next? Because yes, you're right that there some idiots that refuse to drive slower in the rain. Probably the same people as the teachers here saying they refuse to leave their homes earlier.

We're in Clarksburg and the roads are icy. The wrong call was made today.

It's a dusting of snow, they'll be okay.

It is totally fine where we are. It’s a pretty walk to the bus stop today.

We’ve been held hostage by upcounty for too long. I think y’all can handle driving in an inch of snow. People around the country do it all the time. And in even more accumulation! Time to adapt. Winters may start getting more intense, so we can’t continue closing for every little thing. Ice will be different, but they also can’t close just because a few cul-de-sacs are icy. Make your own delay.

Is it that hard to fathom different parts of the county will see varying amounts of snow? Come on.

That's quite close to me. Roads are fine if you just slow down.

You may notice the roads are not empty because all other employers are still requiring that their paid employees go to work. MCPS employees need not be special snowflakes.

Some buses are already “stuck” according to students. That might mean traffic though, not off the road.
