This election reconfirmed that many people suck.

They don’t suck. They got conned.

Where I think Dems screwed up are
1. Mishandling the border and immigration policy. While I agree with being humane and taking in refugees - and frankly that is a Christian value, I think Biden was a bit too knee-jerk in blanket rollbacks of Trump policies. Some were indeed horrible policies, but we should have been more selective on others. We needed to do much much better with dealing with fraudulent asylum seekers and should have been pushing something like the Bipartisan Border Bill right from day one of the Biden administration. It was too little, too late.

2. Dems also completely suck at communications and messaging. They need to be more concise and to focus on sound bites. That worked tremendously well for Republicans. Dems do have some excellent communicators like Buttegeig, but he is not the face that needs to be doing the communicating due to the right's virulent anti-LGBTQ hate. Other Dems should study how he communicates. The other part of the communications problem was that the Republicans used Steve Bannon's "Flood the zone with shit" strategy to completely spam every airwave with falsehoods and disinformation which put Dems into a spin playing whack-a-mole trying to deal with it. I'm at a loss for how to deal with that one, though.

For many, it was willingly - they thought they were "in" on it.

Summary of this thread:

Nope, it's not time for Dems to reflect. Not at all, we're doing so well.

I wouldn’t give up the core values of the Democratic Party. The problem is making people aware of how those values actually work for them (worker rights, regulation on industry, social security benefits).

Americans are completely disassociated and don't seem to be able to connect the dots on how things actually work and which things matter more than other things. I for one don't think trans athletes should compete against women either but I think it's absolutely ridiculous to completely throw everything else away over that one issue.

You can't win over irrational people by discussing facts/policy.

You don't need to yammer on about that anymore.

but is sure feels good. I wonder if we will ever or see from her again.

I agree with you.

more likely, Biden will pardon his son Hunter, and couple that with pardoning Trump under the guise of "healing" to take the political sting out of pardoning Hunter.

Again with the "I know better than you" bs. That's why you LOST. People are sick and tired of this.

They deserve what they get. Let’s stop pretending that this should be one country. I will never compromised on public health, civil rights, education, abortion, or the separation of church and state.

How do you explain all the black and brown people that voted for him?

They will install her as the Gov of CA. Those idiots deserve her.

Just because you keep repeating it doesn't make it true.

Trump voters either believe or want to believe his lies. This is all on them. They choose to ignore facts to their peril. We are sick and tired of their knee-jerk opposition to the truth and them telling the rest of us, who actually try to learn about and understand things, that THEY know better or worse yet, that TRUMP knows better. It's about pride for them, "owning" other people, which we all know about where that leads.

He should have done that years ago.

I disagree. Dems do not want open borders and unlimited illegal immigration. No Dem I know does. But the problem was that they were ineffective and incoherent on their messaging on it, ineffective on legislation, and completely got drowned out, outmaneuvered and sabotaged by Republicans at every turn.

Judge them by their actions, not words. They used parole and CPB One to let in millions.
