B-CC and Whitman are inside the Beltway.

Then BCC and Whitman are more downcounty than the DCC schools. Maybe we need to rethink this?

Blair, Northwood, and Einstein all have boundaries extending south inside the beltway, to or almost to the DC line.

So you're saying BCC, Whitman, Blair, Northwood and Einstein are the real DCC?

The "real" DCC is whatever MCPS says it is. It's just a name.

I think they need to get rid of the DCC all together. I get why they started it but it no longer makes sense. It's basically school choice..and not offering that to all families is inequitable. They either make other consortiums or get rid of the concept period.

Why does it no longer make sense? The geography is part of the reason for the consortium, because there are five high schools situated within a few miles of each other. That is unlikely further upcounty.

Northwest and Seneca Valley are very close. Clarksburg isn't that much further.

Northwest, Seneca, Clarksburg, Poolesville, and Damascus would make sense as a consortium in upcountry.

All or most of the middle schools in upcounty split articulate to 2 different high schools. I actually think it makes very good sense especially since the high schools offer different programs. It shouldn't be difficult for a kid in upcounty to have access to programs that interest them.

No, they wouldn't. Poolesville and Damascus are not close to Northwest or Seneca Valley.

1) Will Woodward be more prestigious than Walther Johnson "WJ"?

2) Does anyone know how it ranked within the W's back in the day -first time around?

The differences between these schools are, at best, minor. The same student will do the same at any of them since socioeconomic status and parental education are better predictors of academic achievement.

I'm guessing WJ will pull from wealthier and more educated households.

They did the DCC consortium with specialty programs and placed the MS "magnets" at specific schools to attract wealthier families to those schools to balance them out.

There are kids who go to Seneca Valley who live close to Poolesville. And Hallie Wells split articulates to Clarksburg and Damascus.

There are kids who go to SVHS who live IN Poolesville, because SVHS has magnet programs. But no, the western boundary of SVHS is still a long way from Poolesville.

But so much has changed in this region since the many decades ago when all this was done that it is no longer meaningful.

PHHS is a two hour drive from where I live. Seriously, I could drive to NYC in the time it takes me to get there and back.

It could be a two hour ROUND TRIP drive, but it's not a two-hour one-way drive. Not if you live in Montgomery County.
