B-CC and Whitman are inside the Beltway.

Then BCC and Whitman are more downcounty than the DCC schools. Maybe we need to rethink this?

Blair, Northwood, and Einstein all have boundaries extending south inside the beltway, to or almost to the DC line.

So you're saying BCC, Whitman, Blair, Northwood and Einstein are the real DCC?

The "real" DCC is whatever MCPS says it is. It's just a name.

Whitman, BCC and Blair could be their own ITBC, covering everything inside the Beltway and nothing outside (Blair, itself, would be just outside, but that's a remnant of its relocation from Dale & Wayne, and nobody lives there). The extra pieces that are currently mis-assigned to Einstein & Northwood could be split, and the outside-the-beltway neighborhoods currently assigned to WW & BCC could shift to WJ, Churchill and Woodward with the reopening of the last.

There are also inside-the-beltway neighborhoods currently assigned to WJ and Springbrook.

Sure. Those could be moved, too.

IIRC, Woodlin was part of the Einstein cluster even when Blair was at Dale & Wayne.

Is there a reason why the Beltway should be the defining boundary for high schools in MCPS? Keeping in mind that Blair is outside the Beltway.

Only that it's a physical barrier to traffic getting to and from school that affects scheduling bus routes.

I think they need to get rid of the DCC all together. I get why they started it but it no longer makes sense. It's basically school choice..and not offering that to all families is inequitable. They either make other consortiums or get rid of the concept period.

Well, we're all about neighborhoods, and the beltway is hard to walk across, but it's also a defining geographic boundary. It separates the close-in and outer suburbs.

Why does it no longer make sense? The geography is part of the reason for the consortium, because there are five high schools situated within a few miles of each other. That is unlikely further upcounty.

I agree. MCPS now has a Regional and Countywide model that should be the only offering. It’s absolutely unfair to have the DCC & NEC and not have a consortium Upcounty.

It really doesn't even work mostly even for families in the DCC.

Sure, the school choice part is broken but the special programs like Wheaton Engineering or Blair CAP are fabulous.

Northwest and Seneca Valley are very close. Clarksburg isn't that much further.
